2nd amendment. Its not just about hunting and recreation. It allows for the people of this country to bear arms in order to overthrow a government in which they feel is a tyranny. "assault" weapons (which are fully automatic and extremely hard to possess in this country) are used in case people need to take a stand for what they believe in and overthrow the government.
If People of NY cant have "assault" weapons and high compacity mags then I demand that law enforcement give up their assualt weapons and high compacity mags too
Whats stopping me from going Matrix style on your ass? You can carry maybe 3 assault rifles on your person, I can carry 8 handguns, with full 12 round clips, and another 12 clips as backup, and be more mobile than you

Now this arguement is just plain uneducated. We have the right to bear arms, nowhere does it say there cant be restrictions on what we bear. Also I don't believe, now I'll admit.. I wasn't there, but I don't believe that the 2nd amendment was put forth for reasons of overthrowing our government.
that is an interesting insight, and i can see what you mean.
we are all taught from schoolage that this is the "land of the free", but if you really start to think about it objectively, actual freedoms are becoming fewer and seem to be deteriorating.
i think that it can be hard to see unless you step outside and experience other cultures.

Youve been telling everyone here for who knows how long that youre tired of living in NY and you cant leave the state BECAUSE of your family. Careful, there might already be resentment.
The problem is, they made them OK to own to begin with. Once you give something to someone, you're always going to have a hard time taking it back. While I believe owning a gun should be a right, I think owning certain types of gun should be a privilege after listening to the way some people talk and make threats that own these types of guns. I don't think it's a subject either side could ever come to terms with because everyone has different ways to interpret the meaning of freedoms and feel there shouldn't be any boundaries.

Where in the Hell did "seven" rounds come from? A WW2 M1 clip is 8 and only 8, are all M1's to be thrown out?. Why do citizens live there, as NY wants only subjects and sheep.

if you register them the Gov't can demand proof of sale when they come to confiscate them and they can't find them. if you can't prove that they were sold illegally then either way you go to jail.

So what happens to something like a Mossberg 590 shotgun that holds 9 rounds? Will that be banned since clips are limited to 7?

Are you being serious? The words " Shall NOT be infringed" mean that in no way can that right be limited or altered. This is ridiculous, and yes the 2nd amendment is there to protect us from the government, meaning that we can use said right to bear arms in order to stop any type of tyranny that may occur in this country, in addition to personal/property protection. Thats how I see it, and if I am wrong then someone please correct me, but my views will not change, thats my god given right.
you can add Nevada and Utah to that list, but Arizona and Nevada have the least restrictive gun laws in the country :thumbsup:

Op I feel for you and I think this law is unconstitutional but IMO this is how issues like this should be dealt with, at the state level not federally. You still have the option to move while remaining within the United States and can pay your taxes and reside in a state who still respects your freedoms granted to you in our constitution. I don't like this but I think it should be handled at the state level.

Dead serious.. I don't see people fighting for the right to carry an M-240, but thats illegal. Where are the backyard missile silos? What, we only want to pick and choose what 'arms' we fight for since infringement means restrictions and its bullshit I cant have military grade plutonium?
