Here is my setup. Stock 03 motor, Mac longtubes, 2.5" off road x, 3" Mac catback, 2.3 gen2 whipple, 2.75 upper/stock lower, billet flow tb, stock inlet tube, sct2800 maf with filter, fore hat with twin 340 pumps, return fuel system (-8 feed, -6 return) fore fuel rail and f2 regulator, e85 fuel, 20-21 lbs boost, 23 degrees of timing, remote tuned.

699 rwhp 669 rwtq
Best track times
10.44 1/4
6.75 1/8
108 mph 1/8
133 mph 1/4

No doubt the TVS can make similar numbers. However for me, I don't care for he looks of it. The whipple looks better in my opinion and the power is the same.

My next step will be to a 2.9.

Thank you for offering this setup and power info in a mature manner unlike SOME of the VMP guys. Nice 1/4th times, keep up the good work.

I guess I don't see the comments you are talking about. Anyone is going to support the product they have or had a hand in developing or selling. If anything it is a good sign to see so many VMP owners in this thread, it's not like anyone that works at Whipple is on these boards. And for the record, I have a 2.3 Whipple on my Cobra but I would of choose the TVS if it would of been available at the time. Plus I think it is great that Justin at VMP travels around the US and installs/tunes them.

How much does your car weigh? We have very similar setups and my best pass so far is;
10.46 1/4
6.72 1/8
105 mph 1/8
132 mph 1/4

This is a cool thread. You will get a lot of biast feedback on TVS and not enough whipple guys running E85 but compareable if your running E85 some people ask why stop at a 2.3. Which is where many go to 2.9, 3.4, 4.0 KBs and lysholms.

One would think my car is light. But not much lighter than a 03 cobra. It weighs about the same as a 03 with a solid axle swap and bigs and skinnies. On the 10.44 pass last year I weighed it at NMRA in bowling green. It weighed 3717 with me in it. Still has the spare tire, jack and stock member. The only weight reduction would be solid axle (if you want to call it that) and weld wheels.

I am by no means a great driver. The car has a better et in it better suspension and better driving (I granny shift better than most lol)
These are some videos of my 10.61 pass. I wasn't able to get a video of the 10.44 run. The car trapped 107 mph in the 1/8 on the 10.44 run.

Nice times in your car. Our cars appear to be similar. My best 60' was a 1.55.

I've only been to the track twice with mine on the 2.3 whipple and both times weather was awful so I'm looking forward to going back this fall. I have no doubt I can get a 10.3 with t56/IRS at 3800lbs. My best 60' is a 1.48 on a stiff suspension. I'm doing a k member and kooks l/t's over winter and maybe add a 50 shot to get a 9. Not bad for a open track car, lol.

Launching off the foot brake in my 3,850lb car on True Forged 3 piece wheels at all 4 corners with Drag Radials it went a 6.75@103+ in terrible weather with a VMP TVS Blower. And on the 93 octane street tune.

I honestly think with the C16 Tune I can get close to or in the 9's with the same wheel/tire combo in some great DA weather. Don't think another 2.3 Whipple car can say that, that I know of.

Oh and I loved my 2.3 Whipple too but switched anyways.

Don't mention the $10k L&M engine, lol. :poke: A few have gotten in the 9's on the 2.3 with a T56/IRS combo, which is my goal. It'd be a lot easier with a auto/SRA but I still open track my car so no chance Ill be doing either of those soon

Some strong points with the TVS Ive gathered from this thread is, 35 pounds lighter then the whipple

35lbs? I looked up the ship weight for a 2.3 whipple and it says 60lbs. That would make the vmp 25lbs?

that is significant if true, especially on the front of the car

I believe my shipping weight for my TVs was 49lbs, IIRC. That was without the elbow, which is probably 1-2lbs max. I think it would be fair to say its 50lbs....but may be less, as the packing has to weigh atleast 3-4lbs.

Senkak shall we say my own TVS made 634 on 15*'s of timing with a 5.0 Boss Block, L&M Built 9:1 Compression 305 cubic inches on straight 93 octane through the built Auto? With "small" 1 5/8th's headers.

Or

The 708hp with a safe tune on C16 lol?

My auto cost me at least 40hp when the car made 540hp so there's no guessing how much it would make with a 6 spd. in it now. A lot I would guess.

My own 2.3 Whipple on my old stock engine on Full Kill made 660hp on C16 from memory through the 6 spd.

So far I'm all TVS from my own thinking. Just waiting on some track times to show what this thing can do. Hopefully somewhat soon.

Already went a 6.75@103mph in the 1/8th mile on TF 18" wheels (all four corners) with drag radials, no ice in the resevoir, and no proper cool down in 1,750 DA or so in 85* heat. It's got low, low 10's in it with this setup on C16!

Sorry forgot something

2.3 Whipple was ran at 22 psi of boost with a 3.25 upper and a 6lb lower combo....

TVS was ran at 20 psi or a little less. I think a 3.2 upper and I know a 6lb lower on it.

Just some small bowl work and that's it. And the extra cubes from the engine I guess? That's the combo that I'm running with no belt slip. I wanted 20 at least but I'm more than happy with less and making good power.

Mine's special.

I know the belt was tight and it made great numbers so I'm happy.

Edit: Don't forget I have custom cams as well designed for a 2.3L blower.

Sorry it's Redfire too. I don't hide anything and try to put down most if not all of my combo. So it's all in this thread.

My shipping paper shows 47lb's with the TVS, gt500 inlet and tb, and a couple of little parts like a fuel pump booster, USB cable, egr cap, pulley, and all the bolts and stuff.

Just giving you trouble  I would of go with the 2.3 TVS over the 2.3 Whipple if I was buying today and I only wish I had a L&M built engine.
