I have put ~90k miles on my '04 cobra and don't have any noticable issues with wheel hop.

Granted, I don't drag race, or beat the snot out of it. Minimal mods... Just an LPW rear cover, MM poly diff bushings and 9/16" sub-frame bolts! Stock springs etc.

Just wait.... In a year or two... The new IRS will be all sorted out, and everything will be fine. :)

I think it's more then a little silly to whine about the new or any IRS to have wheel hop. I don't think anyone at Ford or any other company is sitting there worry about the few people out of the millions that will buy their cars and drag race. If you want a drag car build it yourself.

I only buy sports cars/muscle cars with classic designs. If I wanted a 2015 Mustang I would buy a better looking and sleeker new Audi instead. It's clear the new one is intended for the European market and personally I like having not only a Boss which is extremely rare in the United States, but is damn near impossible to get overseas.

The Boss is not a rare car in the United States.

I had said in a previous post that I wouldn't sell my Boss just to get a 2105 GT but after see the Mach 1 pictures, I would definitely consider selling for the Mach. Wish I could afford to buy the Mach 1 and keep the Boss.

If only. The looks are just the tip of the appealing iceberg. The fact that they seem to be continuing to develop the 5.0 and the talk of the Voodoo motor just seems to be too tantalizing sometimes.

The S550 also has larger cams and different heads than the current Coyote. I read somewhere they are not Roadrunner heads and cams, but were designed off of the Roadrunner program. I would personally estimate power at 450/395 at the motor. We will see the official figures soon enough. Dave himself stated that the performance goals for the S550 GT V8 were to "Beat" the Boss 302 around a track. And they did according to him.

I loved my Boss and yet I am also excited about this new era of Mustangs.

So to answer the OP...NO, I would not sell my Boss to buy a S550. Bit sonce I already sold mine... I will either find a used 12' again or the next S550 performance edition ala Cobra

The S550's are actually looking pretty impressive.. I really like all of the performance oriented improvements Ford is making.

I guess next time I buy a car I'm going to demand a 10% discount off MSRP, calculated before the rebate, and see how far I get. LOL.

Oh god. Lets just say rarity is based on opinion. I personally wouldn't say that the Boss is rare with about 8k produced in the two years. Just because you haven't seen one doesn't mean they are rare.

I'd say 8,000 total production of a vehicle is fairly rare.

750 (Laguna Seca) extremely rare.

Ford Cash/Rebates should always be separate from your new car negotiations. That money is 'Ford' money and has nothing to do with the dealer. You need to take that 'extra' money on the 'back-end' of the deal.

If you haven't done that, you haven't been negotiating for the best possible deal.

Have I had dealers say no? Hell yes! And, I'm always perpared to walk. However, many dealers will either say yes, or get really close.

Also wonder how many people may track with the new 2.3. If it is the same motor as the ST then I can see it making good power pretty easily.

The Ecoboost motor would be fun in a 3100 lb Focus....I just don't see the same fun factor in a 3500 lb Mustang. 400 lbs is a lot more weight for a 4 cylinder motor, boost or no boost, to push around.

This is true, but I have heard of that motor putting out around 325 to the wheel with very basic stuff so I can only assume and also hope that it would do the same in the Mustang. I love the look and idea of the SVO back in the day and was also sad that it was killed because big muscle guys were pissed that a 4 cylinder was faster then there V8's. It would be more work probably to get the 2.3l to maybe 450 wheel but having it be maybe 200 pounds lighter than the GT should make it competitive.

This is the same reason people build Hondas:burnout:

The car scene is much different now than when the SVO came out. Muscle cars with over 400 hp is the norm...much more with simple bolt ons. A turbo 4 cylinder in a 3500 lb chassis will not be competitive with a 450+ hp V8 in a 3600 lb chassis.
