I already have have a built trans by FLT. My 3rd and 4th synchros are shot from a crappy clutch that wasnt fully engaging all the time though. Other than that all I need is the diff and i'm set.
Did you end up going with a different gear when you did the diff?

Good 'ole dead pedal. lol

I went with 3.73's.

My 3rd, without a doubt he was the faster car(the cam car, not the bolt on car)

LOL ok

SVTPerformace the place that video isn't even acceptable any longer as proof:beer::lol:

Then leave and never post again in SVT...but alas you won't,

The problem I have with most 5.0 owners is they know nothing about any other cars..

When they win....they post and assume beating a C6Z is the norm and most 5.0 will beat a C6Z.

When someone points this is not the norm... ..they say look at the video?.....or claim "5.0 hate"...

Most Cobra owners use the laws of physics and experience when reading these kill stories...5.0 owners maybe not so much?

Whats interesting to me is the number of 5.0 owner who seemingly have never owned a mustang before and the first place they go is SVTP? I like many others came here to learn about SVT vehicles and stayed because of the atmosphere. What inspires people to join up just to brag about their 5.0 and hate on the group they just joined?

Ouch... yeah I broke the axle in my LT1 car and bought a 3.42 Auburn from a WS6 car for 85.00 haha... not lying about it being much cheaper...I bet you spent a ton to get that fixed. :(

Spent almost $4K for the rear diff, upgraded axles, and labor. Could have been fixed for about $500, but I figured it was as good of time as any to upgrade.

This is kinda my thoughts as well, and I think you're absolutely right.

I think its the "first time mustang owners" who are usually the ones who I dont like dealing with. The ones who just read the magazines or go online and read about how a shop went 10.XX with bolt-ons, and then think their car is just going to do that since someone else did. I dont have an issue with the car, I think from a performance stand point, its ****ing awesome and has a ton of potential, but I cant help but laugh when peoples ignorance shows. "I beat a C6 Z in my bolt-on 5.0" or "GT > GT500". I know there are tons of cool 5.0 owners out there, but its a shame that the few can ruin it for the majority.

I'm sure many people might think I'm one of those d-bag corvette owners. I think the corvette purists are BY FAR the worst people to ever talk to or deal with. You want to talk about scum bag ignorant ass hole car owners? Theyre the ****ing worst. I'd rather talk to ricers than them. They make me embarrassed to own corvettes sometimes.

After reading this thread, it's really amazing how much unnecessary hate is going on.....

Not hate.... frustration with ignorance....and then repeatedly told you "hate"

The 5.0 car is fine..the owners on the other hand? again frustrating to say the least but in the end I will sleep fine tonight

the world we live in nowdays is ignorant and 80% of people think they are right. 10% dont give a flying f and 10% yhats left actually are right.

i know 5.0 is a decent car as i have one. do i think its the best ? hell no lol...

most new (afrordable for an average person) cars in my opinion are decent cars, they all have their purpose and something they are good at lol.

Idiots belong to no car, race, gender or sexual orientation.

You got that backwards. The C5Z has the more aggressive gearing. Its a 2.97 first gear. A stock C5Z would benefit greatly from drag radials if the rear diff wasn't so weak and you can actually launch it hard. Otherwise, drag radials are pointless.

Hmmm, logically it would make more sense to have the lighter, higher HP, road racing car have the less aggressive first gear. However, I clearly remember that info incorrectly. :dw:

The diff isn't weak. It will actually hold quite a bit of power. It's the driver's side axle shaft that will snap first, and you really need a transmission brace, eliminates some of the wheel hop. The actual rear end itself is pretty strong.

Thanks for the enlightenment?

I think I am in the 10% that doesn't give a flying **** now?

SAE whatever... Obviously its a tuning tool lol. I put down that number right after a 2008 C6Z with a CAI & catback put down 430whp... Tuning tool or not, You get the idea of what kind of performance a car is capable of and I have slips to back it up...

No, a dyno isn't always a good indication of what a car can run. There are way too many variables involved. If you don't think so, answer these two questions.
1) What did the '08 Z06 run at the track?

Earlier in this thread, I posted some numbers from my '03 Z06. When my car made 386 rwhp, it weighed 3065 lbs in race trim. It weighed 3250 with me in it. My car only had bolt-ons at that point. Then, lets say we were to meet up at a drag strip. At that point, your car was making 369 rwhp and weighed 3010 pounds.
2) If I were to let you start the race with a 1 car length lead because of the difference in rwhp, would that have been a fair race?

You can't race dyno numbers, and you can't really compare performance based on dyno numbers. There are simply too many variables that go into chassis dyno numbers.

When I roll in my buddies 5.0 we gets no love. NOW when I had my c5z, I got many looks and thumbs up, same with the Terminator I have now.

Hate em or not but the c5z and 03/04 Cobra revolutionized factory performance. That's why we love them and have so much respect for them.

These new kids (5.0 swingers) were watching "That's so Raven" at the time the c5z and 03/04 Cobra were dominating the streets. That's why they have no respect for anything other than your run of the mill 5.0*yawn*.

Any "kid" who is a first time mustang owner probably isn't driving a 5.0. They are driving a cheaper, older, used mustang worth maybe 10-15. Unless daddy bought them the car.

First time current MY owners are going to usually be adults. With money.

Unfortunately. Adults are perfectly capable of acting like children.

I used to get compliments all the time driving around in a 3v FFS. The very first time I drove my 5.0 home from the dealership I had some guy trying to chat me up about it.

This is 'merica. People just like mustangs. Some of you guys are legends in your own minds apparently.
