10-140 is worlds different than what the OP is going to race. You have to have some driver skills for that! I've seen cars with 200whp more lose in races from a dig or low roll because they didn't know how to drive properly.

Also, what does that race have anything to do with this one? What are the setups on both cars?

Not taking anything away from you beating that Z but...it's apples to oranges. Do you think you still would have won 40-140?

we raced a 10-140 then a 40-140 both times i would keep a good halfcar on him to a full car even uptop.. hell ive came around him when he jumped a half car on me before the point is for a cobra to pull on a h/c/i Z you need at least 700hp to the wheels or close to it which i put down 650/600 on a mustang dyno during a hot day of 90* bottom line is power/weight is a big factor when racing a Z with a cobra

specs on the z is h/c/i/exhaust mine is just a 2.2@18lbs with e85 on a stock bottom end 95k motor pretty much the same set up as the op but hes not on E85 which he should be! lol

you, in post 83, agreed that he would need 750hp to compete with a 580hp corvette.

1. 750-580=170...last time I checked. What is your level of education? Wait never mind...

2. I did say that he needed a 150 shot to beat that ZO6. No one ever said compete with...nice try on trying to distort the facts. The op was talking about spraying a 50 shot and it wouldn't be enough...THAT is why I said he needed a 150. You are plucking stuff out of what I quoted and trying to put it in your own context...and are not even pointing out the fact that several people said a 50 shot wouldn't cut it. That might work with some people, but not me. ;) Go try your BS somewhere else.

well hopefully we find out soon. My point is even with a 50 shot, he's looking at 60 or so more HP than the z06, and if hes running the cobra with a 250lb weight reduction and the z06 driver has a 200lb passenger, well, that means the cobra is about 80lbs lighter for the race.

Aero and gearing are in the z06's favor, but I'd say its close enough to make it a drivers race.

Lol...if he sprays a 50 shot...he is going to lose by 2+ cars...it doesn't matter if he's 80lbs lighter or not. The z is N/A, better gearing, aero, and powerband.

Go back and look at the video in this thread of the black Zo6 racing the Ford GT. The GT had more power, they both weighed close to the same, and the GT has better aero. Why then, did the ZO6 walk it by 3-4 cars?

No one knows the mods of the GT in the video. Could have been a bone stock car against a 600 hp Z06 just a video and didn't look like a serious guy in the GT. By that you can look at some and see they just have the car and nothing special. There are others with tune, pulley, and exhaust that get nasty real quick. Hard to tell with supercharged cars what's going on. A blown Z will tell you while idling lol. HP being equal I'll ride with the GT.

OPs race, I don't think he can get down to the Zs weight. Going to need more than a back and front seat removal. Overcoming the aero dynamics it what takes the extra hp. Only gets harder the faster you go. Not a big factor down low but get over 120 and you can feel the wind resistance
