The car at SEMA is the King Cobra and not the GT350.

I just saw some raw video footage of the unveiling. The word hideous came to mind. They actually showed a mid seventies "King Cobra" on the large screen when discussing lineage. They picked the right girl for the intro though - dayum!

so it's running michelin pilot super sports - same rubber as the Z28, although i believe the nurburgring test cars were on square 295s(granted, that was months ago).

The GT350R will come with Michelin Pilot Cup tires specially formulated for the car. While probably not as sticky as the Trefeo R they should be an awesome tire. I expect the GT350 to come with Michelin PSS tires.

Video 2 clearly shows Michelin's (the Michelin man in fact) so if it IS the GT350, I think Michelin's are all but guaranteed.

that's where i got that they were super sports - exact tread pattern shown near the end of vid 2. and i completely agree, we should be seeing cup tires on the higher end model.

This is really a great thing to see! I still think there shouldn't be these multiple-year gaps on the performance menu though. IMO that's more negligence than necessity.

Consider the impact way the hell back in 1901 or whenever it was, of Henry Ford defeating Alexander Winton, who was then known as the fastest driver in America, as well as the owner of the biggest car company. Ford was a neophyte. That's incredible! Public acclaim and fame followed, didn't it? Winton was also a member of the Association of License Automobile Manufacturers, ALAM, the patent holders of the automobile. Sure Ford still ended up battling them in court even after that. But isn't that considered a pivotal event in whether there even would become a FMC? He might've ended up producing coal furnaces or some damn thing.

IMO the present day FMC disrespects its roots as well as its loyalists. There's definitely room for improvement there.
