I know a lot of people have installed it, but still no one, at least in this thread has driven it yet?

I should be installing mine in a few weeks and will bring it immediately to the track. If it still grinds and refuses to shift, the MGW 2 and the car will be forsale.

I would also like to hear how the Gen 1 compares to the Gen 2. Is it worth the swap ? I have missed second rarely with the Gen 1, but I do get some vibes and little things from Gen 1. Still miles better than the stocker, but this Gen 2 design intrigues me.

Just want to hear a opinion on it before I decide.

I love mine but can't compare Gen 1 vs gen 2. I'd like to hear from someone that has driven both to see how it compares.

I have driven the Gen II a short amount of time after swapping out the Gen I. The Gen II eliminates any side to side movement of the stick while in gear. Gears 1-3-5 seem to be a bit closer together, but that may be my brain playing tricks. I have used both the "street" and "track" bushings and notice no additional NVH.

The track bushing feels like it's doing it's job of making the shifter plate more stable during shifts. My car is put away for the winter so these observations are only from driving it for a couple of weeks.

HMmm Ok. Then it may be worth the upgrade then.....

Try putting Amsoil in at the same time you do the shifter. People in another thread are having good luck with the Amsoil. Hate to see you dump the car, if the shifter and oil make a difference. Might as well go whole hog, and kick this thing in its ass on all sides :kaboom:

Where do I get the Amsoil, and how much do I need?

Hmmm, this might end up being a very expensive winter. Great write up TOB, as always very informative and insightful; thank you!

My only fear is that the stick is going to be too low for my taste. I currently have the Barton shifter with the Barton "flat-stick" handle which leaves the ball pretty high and comfortable for me. I've never been a big fan of a shifter handle that barely sticks up out of the console. Is it possible to adjust the handle height at all, by threading it shallower into the body of the shifter, or will that just compromise the handles strength?

How does it shift under WOT?
I'm always very deliberate in my shifting, so no problems so far. I don't go WOT very often (I want to stay out of jail ), but when I do, I never miss a shift

I don't think you'll be able to adjust the handle that way. I think it sits fine with what MGW provides. Just my .02

I've got the Gen 1, and have zero issues with it. It's simply 100x better than stock. I'd imagine the Gen 2 is just as good. Not sure I'm going to upgrade, but anyone here debating stock vs. Gen 1 or 2,, there is no debate! The stock one is really, really bad, and don't complain about shifting quality, until you have UPGRADED to a Gen 1 / 2, and changed the gear oil, IMHO.

installed. Raining so no spirited shifting yet. Couple of quck notes. I always had a hitch shifting to second. Never was smooth in power from 1st to 2nd. That is gone. 5th and 6th no longer feel like I'm going around the world to reach them. As soon as it stops raining I'm going to do several power 1-2 shifts.

That is great to hear you say that. Looking forward to hearing your comments once the rain stops.

Better not 100%. Missed/grinded 2nd 2 of 6 times, whereas before pretty much every single time under WOT. I will try the Amsoil next.

I have the gen 1 MGW and while its an improvement over stock I don't like the way the car shifts at all. My gen 1 is set on 0 and it is still extremely notchy and missing second is still a problem. Also it is way to stiff going side to side to select a gear. For anyone with a gen 2 that had a gen 1 do you feel like these issues were corrected?

Mobil 1 is much more available. If you're saying it's just as good, I can get that done next week.

BJ @ VMP recommends Mobil 1, and a lot of others as well. Personally I'm going the Amsoil route, there is a recent thread where cold weather / cold oil notchiness was fixed with the Amsoil.
