Damn that's a bummer, sorry man. I'm guessing you're going to do a built 5.4 or try and find a 5.8 block. I think 750whp is a safe HP to stop at. Thats my goal for my car.

Also bosspower what RPM did you shift your car at that HP, I'm guessing 6,500rpm

and that's why I am staying at 750rwhp.

BES does sleeves now for the 5.8. I'm not sure if Tim @ MPR does them yet for the 5.8 but he is awesome

MPR has new crate short block in stock :)

6,900 RPM

I am almost certain that I will not be sleeving the block.

I had been hunting for info about the limits of these motors, considering the power your car made I'm surprised it lasted as long as it did. Tim @ MPR will take good care of you, I was speaking with him @ the Street car drags event. All the best with the new motor, Manuel!

Hi Andy,

Kinda funny that I spoke to Tim that weekend and he said that I was in dangerous grounds, laughing I said..."just stay away right now". Well I guess he was correct and now he will be building a monster.

L&M or MPR would be a good choice, why is it a "smart move staying from L&M"?

I would say there are far more high HP power producing L&M GT500 motors built and running to date than any other company including MMR and all the others. If I wanted to read some internet bullshit that anyone can post I'd probably take it like you guys are going to take my post. L&M has a great rep, as for bending someone over, I'd say most do it to themselves. Just because you buy a car a spend lots of money to have a motor built doesnt mean you have common sense or the ability to know what it takes to control it. I'll revisit your thread link just to make sure we are both on the same page. If I have posted something that offends a member here I apologize in advance but I'll stand behind L&M as I know they produce quality motors. Nobody is perfect, not even forum members.

Then you really need to read and comprehend what is written in the link Snoopy posted and watch the YouTube videos that are linked of the thread. You also need to study the build quote versus the final Invoices then do the math to see how much discrepancies there are between the two.

Dont take this personal BC but I think your mistake started at 1000RWHP and MPSS. One over rev and banging the rev limiter could cause all the issues you had with your motor no matter how "Progressive" Jons tune was with the throttle control. IMO it was a poor judgement call to run the car with that power level and your tire choice. I dont say this to offend or be disrespectful in any way. Nobody is perfect, not even me. I have pushed my car beyond and I paid the price, I hope that you can understand my point of view. You claimed that you didnt hit the rev limiter, I have a huge amount of time invested racing these cars on the street and track. Not to sound arrogant but I made it a quest to be the fastest street tire car and was for almost 2 years. I'm extremely familiar with what it takes to drive 1000 HP on the street, I'd never do it with a standard tire. My ability to drive is high but my lack of self control is low, it only takes one time to destroy a motor.

I dont want to clutter up Manuels thread so if you'd like to make a specific thread or link me to another I'd be glad to talk more.

Thanks Andy

Well I don't know how not to take it personally. Why? Because I've plain stated numerous times that I never hit the rev limiter. I plainly described much earlier in the thread that the engine was at roughly 5000RPM when it failed. Your self control and mine are different. I was 2 weeks out from major back surgery and in the recovery stage when I drove the car and the engine failed. I wasn't trying to be the fastest at anything. If you look at the photos of the primary cam sprocket..........it is obvious that the clamp load of the cam bolt wasn't tight. Why is the inside bore of the sprocket scored, yet the face of the sprocket where the washer from the cam bolt exerts the clamp load to hold the sprocket to the camshaft isn't? Look at the link to the chart I posted from ARP. If the cam bolt had been torqued properly then the clamp load on the face of the primary sprocket that failed would have been 12,000 or higher pounds. How come the front or rear faces of the sprocket aren't scored? What is your explanation for this phenomenon?

Sorry Manuel for side tracking your thread............rdsnk46, if you want to continue the argument, you can post away in my thread. I'll be back Friday to rebuttal

Guys,

Had a change of heart. Will be putting the car back to stock and parting out. I will do a thread as soon as all the parts are out.

May I ask what changed your mind? Also I'm interested in the headers and PBH would be doing the install so no shipping.
