So what is Disney's protocol for stuff like this? Being serious as I'm supposed to get to Orlando Sunday.

If they close the parks, that's that. I think that's only happened twice so far, back in 2004 once, and last year once. It wouldn't be a last minute thing as you can imagine. I would assume if they are going to close Sunday, it would be announced someone Saturday. If you're staying at a Disney resort, the Disney transportation will not be running. You'll be stuck at the resort.

I'm currently in Myrtle for Mustang Week. I was going to stay through the last event on Sunday, but if this thing turns towards towards the Carolinas, I'm getting the hell out of dodge by Friday night - I want two days on this storm heading back to NYC. This thing is a beast.

A lot of the spa model lines have had it turn and go up the coastline like the one last year. The official tracks are now shifting that way. As of now it has it going right up the middle of Florida but it seems in the next day or two it will shift more to the right where the majority of simulations are putting it. The parks are most likely going to close at least one day if it sits off the coast.

6p-12am and 6am GFS runs(9/5 and 9/6) show the Hurricane either missing or skirting the East coast of florida but still staying a Major hurricane(4/5) up to SC.

12am Euro also showed the same.

NHC also shifted their cone more east, but not that far yet.

Otherwords, folks in Georgia and the Carolinas need to make sure they are prepared to potentially either hunker down or leave.

According to the latest forecast, Irma won't hit the mid-Atlantic until next Tuesday, so I'm assuming South Carolina on Monday. That's IF the path skirts the east coast of Florida. Wouldn't that spare Mustang Week at least through Saturday? It would seem that if Myrtle Beach is going to end up being affected, attendees would be able to leave for home early on Sunday morning. Or would traffic potentially become a major issue at that point. Just wondering. I'm sure a lot of the attendees are thinking along these same lines. Of course, attendees living in Florida would have to get home in time to tighten up their properties and prepare for the storm, or evacuate as the case might be.

My mom is in Bradenton and she called to tell me that her facility windows have been boarded up. Bradenton is usually spared from hurricane activity, and I hope that continues with Irma. Prayers to everyone in Florida!

Bob - we're just outside of Bradenton. Let me know if there's anything we can do for your mom.

I just don't see this storm slowing down that much.

Unless it just weakens from being at 175+ for 24/48+ hours, it's going into warmer waters and those Islands on the north side don't have too many mountains to weaken it.

The forecast drops it to a moderate/strong Cat 4, if it makes landfall in Miami, but I just don't see it. Pressure has dropped some from 914 to 918 mB

LOL I always go to winn Dixie every Wednesday morning what a mad house (well not too bad but a lot of people right when it opened). All the water was gone, even the cans of spam were sold out except for the 33% less sodium and jalapeno flavor. At the check out line some lady was buying eight cans of that jalapeno goodness....

I had a lady buy like 10 gallons of distilled water. I asked her if she knew what made it different from drinking water and she was completely lost.

Enjoy the dehydrating water lady.

NOAA's hurricane model is also well east of Florida.#IrmaHurricane pummels Bahamas but makes a hard right turn north before FL by weekend. pic.twitter.com/NeJDG85zSv

European model is closer to FL coast but slight miss -- instead heads directly north into Carolinas (still not good).

Yeah the official track shifted east I figured as much every computer had the plots pretty close. I have a feeling it might curve out and not make landfall. I hope.

NHC had their cone shift further east as well. Middle is still over florida, but a huge shift in the past 24 hours.

NHC Site is dead slow right now due to a high load.

That would be great if it keeps going east, maybe an OTS storm wouldn't be out of the question for the CONUS.

That's worse than no drinking water at all.

Distilled water is ok to drink for a short period of time. For a purely temporary use, the biggest thing is it lacks minerals your body needs. Long term use can cause health issues, but I probably wouldn't worry too much about it for short term use post hurricane, especially if I had a food supply to supplement what the water lacks.
