2018 5.0 F150 has 88hp/100tq Over 2015 5.0 F150...?

The guys at American Muscle dyno'd a 2018 5.0 F150 and 2015 5.0 F150 and saw a 88hp/100tq difference?!? How is that possible?!? I realize there are some truck to truck factors that can skew the results...but that is a HUGE difference! The new 5.0 trucks must RIP! I realize the new '18 5.0 are becoming super complex...but that is a big difference!
I realize they don't have the modability/power potential of a eco3.5...but than that glorious V8 coyote exhaust note is too much for me to give up!
Skip to 5:16 for the dyno pulls and tell me what you think?

The 5.0s and 3.5s run about the same in tye F150s with a slight edge going to the 3.5 with overall torque. They did up the horsepower on the 2018s so Im not sure what changed overall.

Very impressive. However, these trucks are getting damn expensive. 50 and still get cloth interior and halogen head lights? That's nuts
Agreed. Prices are really getting up there. It is becoming a surprise to me how so many are being sold with thier prices. I have a loaded 2013 F150 FX4 that I paid a little over 40k for. The same truck in this newer model year is quite a bit more now. You can spend over 80 grand for a loaded F250.

Easily, can approach 100k for a DRW.

Yep! totally agree on the pricing.
I was just blown away on the increase of power from last gen 5.0 to this version. 88hp & 100tq difference is A LOT!
Although...I wonder if some drivetrain efficiencies are increased with the new 10speed, not just increased engine output.

That cant be right. That 15 model has much bigger tires to spin up on those roller too. Most of the 15-17 trucks I see dyno around 320 rwhp. This 18 may make more than the 15-17 trucks but not 88hp and 100 tq. I bought a new 17 supercrew with the 5.0 and for 18 the hp was upped 10 and torque 13 ft/lbs according to Ford. This 18 has the new 10 sp transmission so who knows what gear they dynoed in or what gears were in the rear also.

Uh, it clearly shows in the video that they used stock tires on the rear of the '15 truck.

True! But man that seems like a big difference from things like that?
Has anybody seen any other stock dyno numbers for 2018 5.0's?

So the MSRP has grown considerably on these new trucks. However, who is the guy that pays MSRP? I picked up a XLT with the 302a, 37 gallon tank, sport package, 20's, 4x4, 3.5Eco, and the biggest cab. MSRP was 53K, I paid 39k. To me, its alot of truck for that price.

Also, keep in mind the 10 speed is a much more efficient trans over the old 6 speed. Drivetrain loss is no longer the15-20% it used to be.

My bad, I didnt notice the stock tires on the back in the vid. I still think there are other factors here, not that much of a power diff between the 15-17s and the 18s. Im sure we will see more 18 dyno vids soon enough.

Put the old one next to the new one, consider inflation and it starts to make sense. Not to mention a fully loaded truck from 10-15 years ago is fairly par with a new bare bones truck

I’d do a 4x4 5.0 over the ecoboost, FRPP/Roush TVS and be done.

This has been my dilemma but its awfully hard to think about dropping 45 on a truck and then a TVS kit is what - another 7k? I havent seen what the new gen ecoboost is making with a tune

just went through the glovebox of our 05 350 Lariat super crew, 8' bed, srw, FX4 with the 6.0 and the sticker was just under 49k.
