Yes if this is like all the rest of the SVT and Shelby offerings (Manual only) in top performance Mustangs, then Ford has nothing but themselves to blame when they come in 3rd for total sales behind the Hellcats and ZL1's. No auto then they are leaving about 65% of the market on the table for the other two and even Nissan to snag up and get instead.

When I kid we use to go to this HUGE Ford dealership at night and they would have used Mustangs for sale there (92-93 I think was the year) and the doors were all open to our surprise but if we opened the door and it had an auto we were disgusted and said what a waste! lol

Well, I finally got a Mustang a few years later and I loved it being a stick shift. It wasn't till many years later that I owned a Mustang that had quite a bit of power but of course that required a much heavier clutch and I started to dislike the car due to the heavy clutch.

That seems to be something ppl forget. A stock or slightly modified car with a stock clutch is fun to drive but we all know the clutch in the 11-17 mustang is absolute garbage so it has to be upgraded. My last Mustang with a stick had about 650 whp and needed a good heavy clutch. I actually tried two different ones and both sucked lol

Stop lights or stop signs on hills were a PITA and traffic forget it! I felt like it was a workout overtime I took the car out and it just wasn't as fun any longer. Shit, forget wearing sandals or flip flops lol

I do miss shifting gears in some ways but not enough to ever go back to one tho.

Driving through stop and go heavy traffic has taken the joy out of shifting, especially since my track days have become rare. I agree though, having fun and enjoying a car is more than 3 pedals.

I think some people get in their head if I'm not shifting the car manually its not gonna be as fun. well, at one point in my life I would have agreed with that. At least until I went for a ride in a real fast Turbo car with the proper converter.

I guess the word "FUN" is relative to ur own experience but in my experience losing a race to an auto has never been "FUN" to me.
Auto doesnt mean you are guaranteed to win so that kind of defeats the purpose of saying I dont want a manual becuase I want to win. Dont forget you arent a magazine test driver comparing identicle cars against identicle drivers.

My 17 Raptor was king of gear hunting! I hope if they (19gt500) do have autos, this issue will not be prevalent.

not at my post...
I have always been an auto never guy, but even I have to concede the 10spd has me considering one. I would wager Ford will definitely have that 10spd as an option in the 500, unless Ford is completely tone deaf.

You need to treat yourself to a twin disc clutch...

I am on the fence between manual and auto. The 8-speed auto in my SRT has really opened my eyes to what a modern automatic can do. It does not hunt for gears like someone else mentioned, it shifts instantaneously with the paddles and it makes anyone a 'pro' driver (launch control, no missed shifts, perfectly timed blip downshifts, etc...).

Cars these days have gotten stupid fast--right from the factory. I think cars have reached a level where a manual is not making as much sense--that's if you're going for the all-out fastest time slip. Since I'm in it just for fun, I'd take the manual...I think...

I have no problem with my factory clutch in my 2011 GT Vert. Does exactly what it was designed for, shifting gears.
I will admit mine is stock other than an Airraid intake, MGW shifter and Watts link rear.
I will also admit that my next vehicle will be auto. I have even warned the wife that I am getting tired of shifting.

Since when did rowing gears turn into being about speed?
It is about connecting to the driving experience. Driving the hell out of something is part of the experience. Nanny controls, automatic transmission, traction control, ect is all taking away from the fun factor.
Watch the latest episode of Grand Tour. Clarkson and Hammond are driving a DB4 and XKSS, meanwhile May is driving a Civic Type R.
I'll take the old analog car any day, and if I am watching your tail lights, at least I'll be enjoying the ride.

Yea, after driving the dodge 8 speed in various Hellcats(Jeep/Charger) and gotten rides in auto GT Mustangs I would totally get an automatic Gt500.

They have gotten so much better over the years.

I think an auto nowadays can be every bit as much fun as a stick. Especially with that kind of power.

Or maybe those "horrible" automatics allow you to concentrate on your line or driving....
Each has their positives.
When I was 20, I only wanted a manual. Now that i am closing in on 50, i will take 90% of the connection I get from driving an auto.
Of course, I wouldnt buy a convertible anymore either. Tired of listening to my wife bitch about it being too cold on most days.
