I love driving my viper and can drive it everyday. Good thing my commute is non existent.
If cabin heat was an issue you should have deleted the secondary cats. They do absolutely nothing but generate heat and I drive with windows down and don’t smell like exhaust even tho the exit is right next to the window.
Best mod imo was deleting the secondary cats. Elevated the heat by basically 50%. It will get hot on a 90F+ day but not leg scorching hot like stock.

If only they continued the rear exit exhaust option. I’d love to get an orange T/A.

Pick your poison.

Yeah I only had the Viper 2 years and sold it when I got divorced this past winter. I'm glad I got the car and scratched the itch I had since I was teenager, but at this point in my life it just wasnt feasible to keep. There was a lot I wanted to do with the car that I never got around to doing. I've got an M2 now that serves both roles as a fun car and something I can haul my kid around in too. I don't daily it, but I could if I needed to.

I had a 14 GT auto with a VMP on it. Loved it. Bought a 13 Boss in December and put a CPR on it and holy shit! Like others have said, car feels raw and always on the edge. You really have to drive this thing. The auto car was so easy and predictable, this thing is so visceral it's unreal. Ford did a hell of a job on this car. I love it

What color combo did you get? Any suspension mods or is that still factory?

Id love to put a CPR or any turbo kit on a GT350.

Not like he was banging off the rev limiter.

From what I recall, the original 4V Cobra manuals suggested running them to redline at least once a month for the old "Italian tuneup"...

I have had my GT500 for 2 years and haven't redlined it a single time. They did on the dyno last year, but personally I never take it beyond 5k. *shrug*

Does it have the premium 6 gauge instrument cluster?

2012 BOSS cars had the base instrument cluster and stereo. 2013 BOSS cars had the full electronics pkg available.

I don't understand, if I read correctly, that means you LIKE the 3v Mustangs?

I had a 2006 GT with just a few bolt ons and absolutely loved it.

and at the drag strip an M6 GT with 3.73’s will stay right with a Boss.

I have to disagree with that. Maybe my buddy's car was a ringer, but it was quite noticeably quicker than any Coyote GT's in our group as well as our whole area. We got it to do a 7.82 in the 1/8 mile the very first time at the track on a Hoosier Quick Time tire. With the same DA, same track, we couldn't get any stock GT to break into the 7's at all. His BOSS regularly trapped 2 mph faster than any stock Coyote GT in the 1/8; same DA, same track.

Yeah just too bad mine got rear ended and didn't find out about it after I bought it and the dealership didn't disclose this, Minor rear end tag that left some scuff marks on driver side rear bumper cover. So the dealership bought it back and I walked away since I thought I was buying a clean non- accident vehicle.

And repainting wasn't an option as the whole car would of needed repainting due to the tri-color Yellow Blaze paint then reapplying new decals. I did sort of like the LS guage cluster though.

I’m just going on personal experience with my bone stock (at the time) 2014 M6 GT vs a bone stock Boss. Both geared the same (3.73). Main difference was he didn’t have to shift to 5th before the finish line whereas I did to avoid hitting the rev limiter. When he added drag radials he ran .3-.5 quicker as he’d 60’ much better than my 1.9 seconds.

The stock Boss shines over a stock GT on the road course, but only packs 24 more horsepower over a stock 2014 GT. Boss revs higher for sure. At the strip I’d expect races to be close.

How much are '12-'13 BOSS cars these days? Clean, lower mileage examples of course..

The Boss is also lighter than most GT’s (exception being base model GT’s which will be closer in weight).

Looking at the gas tank, at least compared to my GT500, it appears to be much smaller. I cant recall if there was an active mandate to reduce weight in the car, but if the gas tank is smaller than standard, then Id imagine other things were engineered with weight in mind.

@lexustech48 All S197s have the same 15.7 gallon tank. There was no mandate to reduce weight.

My Boss was an amazing car. I agree with all here, it was raw and a blast to drive. It was so much fun to rip to 8000 rpm after the CJ intake and tune.

While I like the Boss' replacement, that will be the only car I truly miss.

Just did a quick search; GT500's with the 5.4 all had a steel tank with the same part #. 2011+ 3.7L, 5.0L and 13-14 5.8L Mustangs all had the same polymer tank. That's why it looked odd to me!

Base GT's are much lighter because of the fact that it has smaller sway bars, no strut tower brace, smaller wheels, smaller brakes, lighter cheap ass seats. The best s197 to drag race in, adding FI, are the auto base model 5.0.

That makes sense about the base GT's weight, thanks.

There’s a ton of weight threads in the 11-14 mustangs section. The base manual cars were typically in the upper 35xxlbs. A premium manual was in the mid 36xx and a loaded glass roof was 37xx+. Remove ur spare and jack bigpoppa and your in the upper 35s.
