These days if you don't have a 9 second car or something over 800 wheel, you're slow.

Granted I haven't actually come across a car like this during random highway encounters but you know... internet says...

An old mercedes will eat you out of house and home trying to keep it running. Thats why they are so cheap. The last good year was prolly 89

not really. 211 E class is a pretty solid platform. on the 500/550 ditch the air suspension problem solved. I've had 2 211 E350's. One I sold to a friend at 140K miles, it's now at 190+. My personal 112K 07 E350 drives great, no problems. My 13 212 E350 is remarkable fun to drive.

First gen ctsv

I am just repeating what my friend in the car business told me. I was looking at what I thought were bargains and his advise was, "stay away from those money pits."

Just depends on the area, what is fast. I run into 650+whp cars every single day.

That being said, a marauder is like driving around a sofa, what more could you ask For? Fantastic daily.

Fast? Meh.

Comfy? Absolutely.

Put in a good stereo and cruise!

It really depends on what you're looking for. Most older Benz's are going to be 100k+ miles. I wouldn't touch a first gen CLS or GL. Always something. Both of my current E classes drive like new, no rattles/squeaks, no issues. If I covered up the mileage you'd swear my 13 had 20K miles on it, it drives that good. It makes my 20K mile HC feel like a child put it together. I'm waiting for one of my clients to trade his 15 E63s(212 chassis) lunar blue in on a 2019 E63s(213 chassis). If the price is right on trade in the Hellcat is gone.

Agreed. I'd like a maruader as the prices continue to fall, but I think the wife would divorce me.

I'm looking at 2011+ Caprice with a 6.2L

2nd choice is a BMW M6, and 3rd is an 18 Mustang 5.0 so joining the impractical crew as well.
Good luck with the Caprice... they came with 6.0 L77. Not 6.2, unless you find an LS3 swapped one.

OP I'd definitely suggest a G8 GT.

What about one of those Lexus SC300 or 400? The motor in the 300 is the same six cylinder they had in the Supras. So could definitely be built up. The 400 had a great V8. Well built reliability from Lexus. Can definitely be had for under 10k.
