Some of my friends were mortified when I sold some nice rifles and shotguns that belonged to my dad and granddad years ago, but if I don't shoot a gun I sell it. In fact I sold that Colt above to my best friend, but ended up buying it back from him a year later. It is not that "nice" of Colt in that the slide to frame fit is sloppy, as they were 25 years ago (and even now), but the polished flats are pretty to my eye, has a flat top slide that I like, and it shoots as good as it needs to.I wish that I had just one of my grandfather's guns. I don't even own a photo of either grandfather. My dad sold everything of value he owned due to addiction.
I'm a sentimental person, and I tend to place value on things in regard to those I love and respect. The memories provided by the things I have mean a lot more to me than they would to others.

I appreciate sentimental value, but at the end of the day they were all just new guns at one point.
