We don't have Redline here in Oz as far as I am aware.I’m flipping my 03 over to Red Line 5w30. It’s hot as hell where I live too. Cool car bubba.

Thought so, I drove a 15 speed for 1M miles. We needed the deep reduction for heavy wagons. Sorry for the derail Steve.#694,
Yes, the 18 speed is like an off-road version of the 13-speed. Very helpful when you are in deep mud and steep hills. I worked in the Alberta oilfields until I retired.
My suggestion would be to stick with the 30w or 40w oil of your choice. Stay away from 20w.
Why?
Plus Ford switched to 5w-20 to help meet the mpg standards. Nothing changed from 99 when 5w-30 was specced. Why?

Hi all, I know the oil debate has been going on since Jesus was a lad.
Im in Australia and the temperature gets up to sometimes 40 degrees centigrade in the summer months and that's in the shade. Im in Sydney and the heat in summer and months either side are hot and long.
I have been using Royal Purple HPS 5W30 for a year now. Was told by a mechanic who has been in the industry for 40 years its the best oil. More high level of zinc/phosphorus is the key he states.
What are your opinions as if RP is good my engine in the constant high temps here in Oz. I did use Mobil 1 5W30 for a while. Has a 165,000kms on her now and still running strong.
2. When changing to different brand oils should a oil flush be used?
3. Oil filters - Same as oil brand or generic Motorcraft/Ford ones?
Some oils and filters are not always available here in Australia.
4. Mobil 1 ESP fully synthetic 5w30? Thoughts
Apologies for most likely going over old ground.
Thanks fellas
I think changing the oil is more important than the type really. As long as it's a decent oil and a quality filter. I've used Walmart brand in the past with no issue. Personally I think Royal Purple isn't worth the money. I've ran it in the past and the only thing I felt was a lighter wallet. Even in my built engine I ran Motorcraft oil and filter.
As far as oil filters YOU CAN USE ONLY MOTORCRAFT OIL FILTERS. Using any other filter will cause engine damage. That's a very common problem on the aluminum 4v with broken tensioners and the 3v with bad phasers since people use the wrong oil filter.
I wonder how we all would do shifting with left hand.
Let alone feel like a normal passenger sitting on that side.
