You're kinda wrong there, bud. There wasn't many 13/14 GT500s made, in fact, they had a much lower production than 03/04 Cobras- by about half I believe. And you can't compare rarity by looking at all GT500s made from 07-14 to just the 03/04. If you're going to compare production numbers for all Shelbys from those years then it's only fair you also compare all Cobras from 96-04 too, wouldn't it?
And as far as a better financial move, well, let's look at it like this - the 13/14 Shelbys are 5/6 years old, so they're still not going to be valued and looked at the same as our 03/04 Cobras. I'm sure all color Cobras weren't seen as a "sound financial move" back in 09/10. But the fact that there's less of them made - there's 4 or 5 colors with less production #s than Mystic, the last Shelby Carroll Shelby worked on before his death - his name carries a lot more value than SVT, all point to the 13/14 as being just as much a sound financial move as the 03/04 Cobras.
I know you're a diehard MC guy, but you can't completely look past the 13/14 GT500s as being a great value as well when compared to the Terminators.
There is a lot of passion in the car community... and that is a GOOD thing. GT500s and Terminators are both fabulous cars. I have one of each and love them both dearly. My statement above was based from a collector standpoint. Simply watch the values sans emotion. Values of nice Terminators continue to rise and cars like Mystichrome are among the top prices commanded. On the flip side, prices for all 07-14 GT500s, 13/14s included, have been and will continue to go down for a long time. We have not seen the price bottom on these cars yet.
