Watching that released video of George Floyd dying on camera under the care and control of the Minneapolis PD is appalling. The officers involved should be suspended at a minimum or fired (which did occur). Since the officers were fired immediately, tells me the video revealed serious flaws by those officers. In addition, the PD took the quickest action in an attempt to squash inevitable protests.

Hard Disagree. If the city wanted any hope of preventing riots they should have immediately arrested those officers and charged them.

If police showed up at a bar and you choked a guy to death claiming self defense... And all the witnesses said you stood on his neck for 10 minutes and gave the police a video showing them begging for you to stop... Your ass would be arrested and charged.

Regardless of any video recorded prior to release of the circulated video (if any), the officers can’t justify their negligence. Additional video pops up sometimes, but I don’t see how anything prior can justify this..

The victims prior actions have no bearing on where or not he should be killed by 7 minutes of asphyxiation. He was hand cuffed and under control. Why did they not just throw him in the car already?

The communities in Minneapolis and now certain areas of the country are experiencing protests. These protests include property destruction, transportation blockages, assaults and the general assumption of lawlessness by the protesters. Its OK to protest, but to destroy the property of neighbors and businesses that serve you is just dumb. The protestors block access to first responders trying to help the injured and put fires out is dumb.

If the protestors want to further destroy their economy, don’t come crying later wondering why the very essential businesses you want are no longer available in your community.

Protestors are now in my state capital of Columbus. I hear they think they have a pass to destroy.......again dumb.

Again, let's break this down because people keep getting *Shock Pikachu* over this.

First, no one rioting cares about the community or the economy. These are people who already have arrest records, nonexistent economic mobility and are unable to think 30 minutes into the future.

One of the unifying traits of under performing social groups is their inability to delay gratification and think about the consequences of their actions.

This is why they drop out of school - they don't think about the future consequences.

This is why they steal a $400 TV - they don't think about the possibility of spending a year in jail

This is why they punch you when you call their moma a hoe instead of just walking away- punching someone now feels good because they aren't thinking about how it could lead to arrest or getting shot.

This is also why no one on SVTPforums is protesting. Yes we agree this was awful, maybe it would be great to show we care and let out some anger... But we have jobs to get to, bills to pay and people that count on us. We also don't want to risk our futures by potentially getting hurt or arrested in what we all know would be the inevitable riots.

More and more normal people are getting fed up with the affect on our lives from the actions of others. I think this whole pandemic has given us great insight into how the actions of others can hurt even us who have tried to insulate against them. I personally don't feel like I'm working for retirement. I feel like I'm working until a civil war breaks out and then I'll either make it through or die a free man.

What a cluster **** of a situation... Take this tragedy that happened to a human being and turn in into a racial shit show while hurting / destroying others lives that had nothing to do with the incident. People acting like animals and now everyone loses. All while taking away from the tragedy / injustice that is George Floyd’s killing.

Where is the pussy police now? The leadership on that town allowing the looting and violence continue for this long shows how weak they really are.

I really hope the President has to intercede to regain control of the city, while exterminating all the cockroaches that are running rampant in the streets.

One Target? Two at least. Yes I've been watching live streams WAY too much tonight and last night. I've seen 6-8 buildings burnt to the ground. I've seen hundreds of buildings with windows smashes in, like a Noodle and Co...WTF you gonna loot there? Every bus stop is destroyed in at least the area where they are looting. In the last couple hours they are ripping down stop signs and traffic lights. More fires have started. I think in total I've heard 3 schools have been vandalized. There is "**** 12" spray painted on sidewalks, roads, buildings, everywhere. They've stolen and burnt two USPS vehicles recently. There's report someone did donuts in the second Target recently. I've lost track of how many police vehicles have had windows smashed in, or "**** 12" keyed into the side while police are 15 feet away.

Judging a book by its cover, the mayor is a white guilt suffering liberal so, like in Baltimore, these "people" will be given carte blanche to do as they wish.

I can’t wait to see people crying about the destruction of their neighborhood and lack of jobs after they burn everything down.

These animals deserve everything they lose as a result of their actions and honestly, some of them should be shot like rabid dogs when trying to burn and destroy because god knows who might be hurt or killed. I would suggest someone explain to them the idea of hypocrisy but they wouldn't understand.

Let 'em burn the whole city they live in to the ground. They do nothing but hurt themselves. And as a business owner, I would take my insurance money and build somewhere else. Let them have nothing.

they really should just let them burn the whole area down, when they have nothing left all we can do is say you got what you wanted

Not sure if any other law enforcement have responded to this, but I'm also not going to read through the comments...

I, as law enforcement, feel this was wrong and the male strangled was a victim in this case. At a minimum, you'll end up seeing the officer with knee to neck convicted of probably manslaughter.

What you will find in the future is more of these instances. People like me who have been in law enforcement (more than a decade here) are trying to get out as quick as possible. People no longer want to do this job and as a result you see departments severely overlooking things. Lowering hiring standards, not doing the backgrounds and mental evaluations. Ive been a training officer for a while, and a lot of people we say need to be fired are being given 3,4,5 chances and nothing happening.

I am also a military veteran. Many veterans are coming into the profession with PTSD and complexes that are never dealt with.

The mayor just gave a speech, bitching about trump. Something like "weakness is pointing fingers, and he doesn't know anything about how strong we are, we will get through this." Also something like "brick and mortar isn't as important as human lives."

So do nothing? Let folks riot?

How about non-leather rounds, start firing at anyone breaking windows or stealing.
Lol someone ask that mayor whos gonna pay for all the damage? It wont be the federal government.
