Yes they still warranty there engines, I asked Jim Jr about that before I had them do my engine.
Yes one year warranty unless it’s caused by detonation.
If I didn’t have Holbrook Racing Engines so close then JDM would’ve built my Coyote also.
Can’t say enough about my JDM 5.8 and I’ve had engines built by several big names over the years.

The the JDM motors out lasted the other 5.8s that you had done by the other companies?

So far I'm very happy with mine as well. It was worth the wait.

Can this be configured for an s197 gt500 with a 6r80 swap? Currently running coyote swap PCM.
EDIT:
Thought I should clarify and clear up this. Motec are the ones who developed the 6r80 firmware for controlling the transmission. I happen to find it on Fischer Motorsports site and didn’t see it anywhere else. I now stand corrected.

Motec offers 2 separate Motec firmware packages for the 6r80 transmission.
There is a 6r80 only standalone trans controller using the M130 ecu. They have another firmware package utilizing the M150 ecu that controls the 6r80 as well as ANY engine it’s bolted to.

6r80 trans only—-> https://www.fischermotorsports.com/...its/car-kits/6r80-swap-kit-transmission-only/

Engine and 6r80 —-> https://www.fischermotorsports.com/...s/car-kits/6r80-swap-kit-engine-transmission/

Thanks for the links Ken.
The 6R80 has become popular with Supra guys.
I’m still waiting to see guys going fast at the track with the Motec controlling the 6R.
Guys I trust who tried the USShift 6R stand-alone have not had track success.
The very popular ZF 8spd has similar controls as the 6R so it’d be. I’ve if bigger players like Holley EFI would include control of these autos not just the older 4R70W AODE and GM 4L80E and the like.
Anyone have any feedback or know guys running fast with the Motec 6R control?

I’m really wanting to find some Motec 6r feedback as well. I was really looking forward to the USShift controller but as you, I’ve seen quite a few that have had issues with it especially at the track. Everything from hanging up on shifts to short shifting through the gears to quickly way before set shift points. Even people having issues with it just trying to do a burnout. I started looking at other options while at the same time looking into doing a 6r80 swap into a GT350. That’s how I stumbled onto the Motec 6r controller. In fact it was after doing a search and finding a Supra that had made the swap as you mentioned. Very interested in it to say the least for my Cobra as well as my future 16-19 GT350 ;)
I found 2 separate GT350’s that have swapped in the 6r80, one of which I’m pretty sure is using the Motec. However both cars and any info about them and the swap seem to be kept under lock and key as a closely guarded secret known only to the owners and builders. I even reached out to the shop that did one of them and all I got was crickets.
I’m constantly searching the inter-webs for Mustangs or Fords in general using the Motec on a 6r80 in a high horsepower and track environment so I’ll keep you in mind if I find anything.

Good deal Ken.
I think the 6R is a killer trans from personal knowledge of friends going 7s with them.
Controlling them seems to be OEM only but if I’d put money on an aftermarket company to do it Motec should be a safer bet.
I’m personally hopeful that the aftermarket Tremec DCT will happen. That trans seems to be holding up to 4000# cars and 1000hp+ really well completely stock.
Good luck

Ohh! I didn’t realize they were considering an aftermarket available Tremec DCT! That would definitely be a difficult route to pass up. If the price tag for a GT500 take out DCT didn’t hover in the $20k range I would be looking at (actually did look into) that route. I’ve got time so I’ll have to keep that in mind too if it happens! The DCT would definitely be my preferred route. Of course the 6r would be my version of the poor man’s DCT lol.

Well @manny231988 I think its important to speak with him first before you make any unnessary decisions or conclusions. But 2 years to tune a plug n play stand alone ECU is alittle concerning IMO.

Ya it’s more than just plug and play and ecu tunning but as you mentioned even with the rest of the stuff that needed to be done 2 years is concerning

True @manny231988 All depends on what needs to be tuned in especially if its not a stock car or motor. But 2 years and lack of communication. I personally would of pull my sh$t out and took it somewhere else. From your details it sounds unacceptable for the money this cost.....but thats me!

I hate to say this but you should talk to an attorney and have that as a back up plan.
I’ve had to pull my car out of a shop before. Luckily it didn’t come to lawyers but sometimes a formal letter gets things going.
Sorry to hear this Manny. Good luck.

I have actually thought about this several times but I didn’t wanna make it awkward because if anything ever happens to my car I wanted to have that support, Shawn’s a nice guy and his work I’ve seen first hand and it’s awesome but 2 years makes you change a lot of outlook, i recently talked to him and kinda went off on him a little bit and said it was unacceptable, he assured me my car was next on the plate and he wanted to get it out of the shop just like as much as i wanted it, we will see what happens these next couple months, it sucks i gave him 28k up front and have seen minuscule work in return.

Ouch!
Thats hefty price for having nothing to show for it!
I had been considering using him for a Motec system when I finally find the GT350 I want!
I think I’ll start thinking about another route.
Did he give you a time frame when you dropped the car and 28k off?

That’s good to know he gave you that assurance but from what I’ve learned over the years you really need something in writing that includes a solid plan with dates/timeframes for specific build issues. If he doesn’t commit to something in writing then you’re best to proceed in having an attorney write a formal letter to protect your investment.
I truly hope you get your car back soon Manny!

Well I dropped it off April 2020 that’s when the world went to shit with COVID and he had some manufacturing issues, some parts availability issue the whole works on why the project ahas been stalled plus he had a job in front of mine a lambo racecar that was quoted for 300 hrs that he had to finish before mine well that car still there also but he says he’s getting out in the next couple weeks and then all hands on deck for mine we will see…..

I’m gonna have to look Into this J there was really no set finish dates since COVID hit and he’s rode that reason for a while and I understand I’m a heavy construction tech and the industry did get impacted but I’m just over it because it’s been 2 years, I’m gonna have to get a letter made just in case
