Upon further review….

I’ve been crunching the numbers recently as my order is supposed to be here end of the summer, beginning of fall….

The conclusion?

1. It doesn’t make any sense to buy this truck if you want a truck to do truck things…

2. It doesn’t make any sense to buy this truck if you’re thinking it’ll save the environment. It won’t. In fact, it’s worse on so many levels.

3. Battery replacement costs are ASTRONOMICAL. You’re not going to get anywhere near the same type of longevity as you would from an ICE engine.

4. You’ll NEVER recoup the money from buying a $75,000 EV truck at the fuel pump. NEVER.

5. As a Lightning enthusiast who owned a Lightning for some 16 years, I can truly say it’s an all around disappointment to the Name.

Instead, I’ve decided to keep my paid off 2017 Focus 1L 3cyl Ecoboost for commuting and I bought a 2022 F150 5.0 4x4 for 50k. (Thanks Nick.)

The focus gets over 40mpg and the truck has a 36gal fuel tank and all the capabilities of a 4x4 off-road vehicle.

Buying an Electric F-150 for $75,000 that can’t tow 5000lbs even 100miles makes zero sense.

My thoughts also.

That's why I'm eyeballing the Ranger Raptor.

I also have a EcoBoost Focus (2016) and routinely get over 40+ mpg.
The mileage drops off to 33-34 mpg when it gets colder than 32*F. Some of that is due to the fact that studded snow tires are on the car, I am driving in snow/ice and in temps as cold as -5*F and the engine has a hard time getting up to temp.
To build temp, you have to burn fuel, and at 1 Liter, there is not much engine there to burn the fuel to create heat. I have drven all winter and the engine never gets above 1/4 and when going down a long hill the gauge will actually go all the way to cold.
Otherwise it is a great ride and the fuel economy is outstanding.

I’ve never experienced any issues with the temp. She’s always quick to warm up in the winter. Hmm. That’s strange.

Anyway, You’re spot on it’s a phenomenal little car. I’ve tried to get rid of it since I bought it never can justify it.

It’s the perfect little commuter.

Completely understandable. I would be curious to see how it would tow say a 6k car/open trailer combo vs the 6k barn door.

When doing your comparison we’re you basing that on trying to recoup the 25k difference between the gas and ev truck? Just wondering how you approached it

Approaching it from a practicality stand point.

All things being considered, for me, I makes no sense to invest 75k (25kmore than my 5.0) into an EV truck.

Ever with the tax incentives it’s a no brainer.
