I have a whipple 170mm mono blade throttle body on my VMP Gen3 TVS and the driveability is perfect. I tried two different KB168s and the car hated both of them, so I don't even want to chance a 3.6KB, and the Gen5 3.0 whipple has a different T/B and I don't know how happy the car will be with it, however my current T/B will work with a Gen4 2.9 whipple, but I'd have to hunt one day and spend more money when my current setup works good enough so I don't see anything changing.
Let me tempt you...

Whipple arrived yesterday evening, we will see what Rob and PBD can get it to do….. wish me luck
It looks great, I just put a wrinkle blue Gen5 whipple on my brothers terminator. It's a nice supercharger. I'm sure I could make one work, I'm just tired of working on the car constantly, I just want to enjoy it for a winter, maybe next summer I'll change something up.
Any particular reason KB will not work @2011 gtcs ?
Lund racing tuned the car and they're normally great with the KB168s, but for some reason they couldn't get the used KB168 or the brand new KB168 to work, I put new electronics on and measured the TPS voltage to .86 volts. But on cold start the car would hold idle at 3k and then slowly come down to maybe 1,2000, they said they couldn't control either one of them, so I gave up after pissing away a lot of money for nothing.
It’s not necessarily the KB it’s just that these cars are VERY sensitive to TB and the DBW safety in the stock electronics. Limp mode and TB issues are 90% of the reason I’m swapping out the stock computer.
I’ve personally ran and had success with KB168, Whipple 170 and the VMP 173(?). But I’ve also had failures with other TBs.
It’s a balance act because some of the biggest power gains come from TB while it also can make the car almost unable to drive.
The S197 Coyote guys would run S550 TB motors and tube around it or even *gasp* Hellcat electronics as band aids.
Our ‘13-14 Trinity cars actually run the Coyote processor (different from
‘11-12 5.4 GT500s) so there’s a lot more to it than we want to get into.
After personally living with it/thru it I’ll tell you to stick with your TB/tune if it’s working!
I believe that Gen 5 3.0/3.8 runs the roval TB and yes they’ve also had the same issues that ALL of them have but at the same token, we’ve learned a ton about work arounds and for 95+% of guys it’ll be fine.
Looking forward to seeing seeing the results.

I 100% agree with you, ever since I bought this car it's only liked the Ford twin 65 T/B or a VMP twin 67mm T/B or the whipple mono blade I currently have on it, I've tried damn near every GT500 T/B on the car and it's hated them all, its like its possessed lol. Also a small part of me kinda feels like Lund doesn't try very hard to fix tuning issues and they usually blame you for doing something wrong and that's why stuff isn't working right and maybe they're right lol, I know how to read a datalog but I'm not a tuner, Lund also has the car in its current setup running amazing so I can't bitch to much, but I feel like my options are now limited, either way the goal has always been 900whp and maybe touch 1000whp once or twice and I feel the way car sits right now it'll do that.
Why do you do this to me.

Yeah it’s a gen5 3.0 wanted a little more but keep motor mount location and hood. It’s just a little slow street car :):) Motor is sleeved block, Manley rods, diamond ceramic coated pistons, head work, L&M cams. Total seal rings, king bearings, TSS oil pump gears. Fore innovations triple pump with ID1300. Tick performance stuff in the tranmission with a McLeod rxt 1200 clutch. I am probably forgetting something but that’s the meat and potatoes of it
Your gonna hurt alot HELL KITTY feelings with that monster 5.8 motor......(y)

After reading all the T/B comments, I offer this:
Had this installed on ( 2 ) different cars. FRPP mono, - ( 65mm x 147mm, 1797cfm )

Most tuners don't like / can't / won't tune it, yet I have had two cars that perform perfectly with it.
It drove just like the FRPP twin 65mm on my 11, the 14 never had anything but it after modding.
Common thread - tuned on the street !!

I had ford mono blade T/B on my other GT500 and it ran like stock, just like my whipple mono blade does on my current GT500, I feel Lund doesn't try very hard to make mono blade T/Bs work, I would have liked to have JDM engineering tune my car in person, especially since they built my engine.

I think the larger tuner " factories " are more volume driven, spending extra time on each tune is not part of their business model.
JDM is a small shop, their bread & butter is race cars, Jim Sr. the owner does ALL the tuning. The down side is it's hard to get an appointment, but the wait has always been worth it for me..

Agreed, and I would have liked them to tune my setup after they finished with my engine, but oh well, I'm actually suprised you haven't done a set of there cams in your GT500.

I have noticed a lot of people selling the new GT500s with low mileage as well, I feel maybe that's due to the people that bought them bought them because they were the newest flavor of the month and they're onto whatever is next. The 13/14 GT500s just the like the 03/04 Cobras will gone down in muscle car history as the kings of there time. At the end of the day I find lots of thing I like about them both. I bought my first 13 GT500 brand new in 2013 and man it was one of the best moments of my life and I've had 2 more after that. I guess maybe that's why I was looking at buying the new 22 GT500. I was looking for that feeling again. But maybe it wouldn't be the same, IDK. Ultimately I would like to own them both, and maybe one day that will happen....or I'll buy a 13/14 Super Snake lol.
in 2013 i wanted a gt500 soooooooo badly. I just couldnt afford it at that time. . Congrats on the gt500 in general.

Thanks man, I appreciate it. I remember buying my 13 GT500 new back in October of 13, it was a great feeling, I've now had three 13/14s lol. But my current one is here to stay.

i completely understand the passion for wanting to extract more power from these cars also. If i lived in a house.... and had a garage i would be a TERROR. Living in a condo really limits how far u can go, because EVERY time i stick a key into my car.. it HAS to start. so im forced to leave the car alone to a large extent. enjoy it......
