I actually like trying all different type of holsters… Even though it may be ”expensive“ for a piece of kydex… it is totally worth it. Holster is one of the more important aspects of edc’ing a handgun. Very worth the effort and money.

If you get your combo just right, it makes edc’ing a breeze!
I did try Kydex but wasn't comfortable with it. I then tried four different leather holsters until I found the one that I was very comfortable with. Some love Kydex. Some love leather. I do EDC and most of the time I don't even feel like I'm carrying. I agree with you that whatever type of holster you ultimately decide on, make sure you're 100% comfortable with it. Nothing worse than an uncomfortable or sloppy holster setup.

100%. No one holster will fit everyone. We all have different bodies, different body habitus, different lifestyles. All that matters is that you find one comfortable enough that keeps your carrying every day. Safe enough to not have any possible issues and good enough that it gives you a tactical advantage. :)(y)

Welp…. I am dissapoint, son!

went to the range to do my own testing on the Shield Arms 15 round mags (gen 2) with their steel mag release, for the 43X and 48, before I put the freshly “modded” 48 back into EDC rotation. Took 150 FMJ and 15 JHP. Gun was clean and oiled.

Everything was going spot on at around the 80-90 round mark… Not a single issue….

But then, as I tried to load yet another fresh mag and tried racking a round into the chamber…. started having issues with the slide not being able to pick up the round and get it into the chamber. This started happening over and over again, As I tried to finish the last 50 or so rounds of FMJ. At least 10 or so more times.

When I got to testing the JHP’s it happened to about 10 of 15 rounds.

*** I only had one failure to feed in the middle of firing a mag. The issue happened as I loaded a fresh mag and released (or racked) the slide so that the gun could chamber a round and get into battery. ***

Absolutely hate that the mag did not work out for me. Might give Shield Arms a call, then again, might just go back to stock.

****.

what about you?
I have been using We The People Holsters. They’re great priced and work well. I purchased the IWB G48 MOS with TLR7 light and modified it to an OWB, since they don’t make one. It’s a little too bulky to wear IWB, but thin enough for OWB carry.

I know when I load a mag I feel like I’m having to pull the slide all the way, not like I don’t for the others, but it’s more pronounced. Having said that, I haven’t really heard of a lot of issues. One of our range staff instructors runs a G48 MOS with the shield arms mag and shoots them all the time.

I had seen / heard some reviews with issues, but more without. Figured id give it a go myself. Rounds just started having issues feeding. They would appear to hit the feed ramp at an awkward angle. Very weird that I had 80-90 issue free rounds and then BAAM!

I already reached out to their customer support to see what they say…

Ill report back.

You could try FMJ unless you are one of them guys that must carry hallow points because youll always hit center mass which means it will never go through.

Regardless, id still use stock mags. Hopefully 10 rounds doesnt get me killed one day.

doubt it…. Was messing with the gun last night… researching …. Think the main problem is the way the s15 mag sits vs stock…. Very minute tolerance difference…. Stock mags sit farther forward, this allows the slide to really “grab” on to the round from behind and push it into the chamber at the correct angle, thus, no FTF. The s15 mag sits just a tiny bit (maybe 1/10”) farther back, this causes the slide (by breach face) to end positioned slightly on top vs. behind the round as it should be…. Thus the inability to push the round forward at the correct angle, causing the FTF.

I did…. 150 FMJ and also 15 JHP

10 should be more than enough in a self defense scenario…. but just like horse power, I just “wanted” MOAR… lol

I could never do an IWB holster for that reason. I can well imagine the ride wasn't all that pleasant. Both of my OWB leather holsters for my S&W Shields have a leather piece extending upwards to prevent the pistol rail from digging into my side. I can drive while carrying with virtually no pain or irritation.

I carry OWB too.
I wear a ‘ wife beater’ as a undershirt and 90% of the time my shirt is untucked
When I have to tuck in a shirt I switch to the LCR in a pocket holster.

Looks like we are working sat&sun....that'll give me 12 hours of double time and 8 hours of time and half plus my 80 hours. Maybe I'll just grab a Benelli M4 and call it a day. (if i can find one). Still torn money not being the issue. Really dig the Mossberg 940 Pro Tactical.

Thus the inability to push the round forward at the correct angle, causing the FTF.

found the ”main” culprit…. It is the way the mag sits, like i had mentioned. Check these out…. Look at the way the rear of the round sits against the bottom of breach face:

The way it needs to seat (about 1/12th - 1/15th” away from breach), so as to not cause FTF when sending the slide forward to rack a round

Notice here how the bottom of the breach face is right in top of the edge of the round (mag was fully seated btw)… this will 100% cause the malfuction:

I ended up at the range today to test all these…. Sure enough it was it…

I shot 100 rnds of FMJ S&B, 15 rnds of JHP Hornady Critical Duty and 500 rnds of FMJ Midwest Remanufactured ammo.

I had 1 failure to feed while in the middle of a full send of freedom. 1 failure to feed when racking a new/full mag so as to load the chamber, and 1 stovepipe. So 3 malfunctions out of 615 rnds. Much improved over the last outing which was about 25 malfunctions out of 115 rounds.

They’re great. I have IWB and OWB for all my glocks. $50 a pop is pretty good.

Are these a softie or hard holster?

Work got me Werkz for IWB. Hard plastic.

Just wore it 6 hrs on two flights. Then two hr drive. Feels the same or better than the DSG one I was using. F

I don’t need a cover shirt but since I’m up in MT and it’s 30* I have one. I just tuck the T-shirt under the exposed part of the weapon and I could run like that for 18hrs

Kydex material. They’re hard plastic but I wear them for hours and hours everyday.

Well, just bought it. Benelli M4 of Palmetto State. I had to back up to fix my phone number and I guess they thought I wasn't going to order and a 100.00 coupon popped up.....used it! Score. Got the Titanium Cerakoted one.
Post it!
