Do you own an 03-04 Cobra?

nope, Lightning FTW!!!

I'm not bashing the cobra, but its not exactly the most comfortable or user friendly ride out there. If I'm sitting in traffic on the way to work, I'll take the GOAT anyday. :coolman:

Besides all the obvious reason's you'd hear "Get the dang Cobra and move on" (hey, this IS the SVT website, not GTO's!) the other awesome reason is you can get a Cobra convertable.

I live in KS, not CA where you live and I drive with that top down a SH!T load of the time!

Go ask this question on an SRT web site so there is no bias, but I bet most will go with the terminator.

I drove mine from California to Florida last year and it surprised me how comfortable it actually was. The only thing that I felt was really more comfortable in the GTO was the shifter placement... and the wet noodle clutch in heavy traffic.

I'm a big used car guy and the prices on the 04 -06 GTOs on Cars.com are truly remarkable. There are little plenty of GTOs in my area for under $27k with less than 5k on them! That's a heck of a performance bargain. I love 03/04s, but its hard to walk away from a bargain. IF you can get a GTO under $27k with nothing above 5k miles, then go for it.

Look at some of the prices I found on a search in my area.

i bought my '05 GTO with 10,800 miles on it and 18 months of the warranty left for $21,500

GTO makes the better daily driver period. cobra has much, much more potential. the original poster might buy the GTO and find out that its not much faster than a 'pre-03/04 cobra'

if i was to buy a car that would be comfortable day in, day out, on a 31 mile trip to and from work, i'd go with the GTO

Deffinetly a Cobra !
Ok your not going to buy either or of these two cars and not have some "race" intentions in them , ur not going to "just" daily drive it .
Im not going to bash the GTO just cause im a ford soldier
honestly as daily drivers i think both of them are a great spin , however when you get the fever to mod theres more bang for the buck on the T101 haha
ass far as looks i think the Cobra looks sexyer...well alot better
I find my Cobra to be one of the more comfortable cars that iv driven even on luxury cars - and trully i like the interior .
I have driven a couple gto's and it didnt have that ..feel of content
but the car does really have its goods .

But to make a long story /review short
To daily drive ..
or to rip like hell
If both cars were presented in front of me to choose i would open the door to the cobra with no remorse .

I drove my Cobra from Oregon to Florida last month, and will be driving it back to Oregon early next month. It was very comfortable on that drive (to Florida), and having the MGW shifter made the shifter placement a non issue..

I just finished helping a friend put new pushrods in his '05 GTO because he over reved it and bent a couple all to hell.

Oh, and his rear differential leaks.

i couldn't pass it up.

I don't think I would have either. They have a lot of awesome mods available as well. I have a local kid with a GTO who runs a Bassanie exhaust system and its one of the best sounding exhaust systems I've ever heard on any car. Period.

also, i think the cobra is actually capable of better gas mileage if you stay out of the boost. the gto with any boltons is gonna hurt gas mileage whereas the cobra wont really be affected.

Sorry but this is wrong, I have heads/cam 3.73 gearing LS1 and get better Mileage than my friends Cobra. LS2 should get better mileage than an LS1 or about the same. My friend has an 03 Cobra and just swapped over from WS6 and the only thing he hates is the MPG drop from the swap.

terrible post..........

1st off, we are talking about a daily driver here. Aftermarket support doesn't matter, he already owns a mustang. Also I had no idea that a 400hp, 6.0L all aluminum small block with sequential port fuel injection is a 60yr old design. :dw:

Ummmm, hello... of course it is a 60-year old design... it has 8 cylinders, crank, cam, and spark plugs. Almost nothing was changed in the LSX motors from chevys original small block.:rollseyes
*please detect sarcasm*

If i needed to be in the car alot (IE a commute) and wanted a car with balls and was roomy and comfy, it would be a GTO. i highly doubt id mod it at all, aside from a nice exhaust, shifter and intake. However i think id look into something else if i needed to commute, probably a bike, which has insane amounts of balls and insane mileage.

I, however, have a 5 minute drive to work and back, dont give two shits about mileage, and enjoy knowing that whenever i want, i can make 600whp reliably without having to throw 5k into a built forged motor, its already there. right now, i prefer "Smileage", IE Smiles per Mile, that a car gives me, i think the Cobra gives me the best smileage of any car ive owned or been in period.

The GTO will probably be more reliable and more refined. The Cobra will be better if all you're using it for is going fast.
