I had no idea 28+ Soldiers have been killed since January 1. Thats not even a month ago! If we glorified our fighting soldiers lives as much as we did TV actors, this country would make a complete turnaround

+infinity

I'm glad we don't get fox news in Canada, I've seen way to many interviews of idiots like Phelps (Church protesting soldiers funerals) and people along their line of thinking on that show, such a waste of air time and it only draws attention to what they are trying to do. I don't believe in a "higher power" (Ie: god), but I've been praying that something strikes Britney down now for several weeks now so we can get that SHIT off the TV, every damn channel seems to be something like "then britney drove and got starbucks", are we as people that stupid that we care whether she got a grande or a venti mocha latte?, if everyone is so interested in her life, go to the local prostitute hang out and talk with some of them, I'm sure their lives are much the same as hers.

It's disgusting that we waste so much airtime going on about the shambled lives of these "stars" and ignore the real issues. Personally, I would rather be informed about a soldier being wounded before any BS about these celebrities

Props to Montel, he has always been a good guy and says whats on his mind (As someone stated he needs to drop Sylvia)

I am glad that I saw this thread because it is exactly how I feel and have been saying so for the past few days. I am so sick of hearing about Heath Ledger. What did he do in life that ever meant anything? Did he save lives? Was he a hero? NO. It is disgusting that there is this much attention over someone who died from a drug overdose. People act as if he was a war hero or a doctor who saved thousands of lives. He was an actor, plain and simple. No dis-respect, as I feel for his family, but it is tough to think of an actor dying from drugs as a real tragedy. Our society is too backwards and I just don't comprehend why people are so facinated with celebrities in the first place. They just are not that important.

 Well said.

The sad truth is what the blond bimbo said though. They are just "feeding the beast"
There are too many stupid people out there that that's all they're into. Celebrity gossip. People need to get a life and realize that people are dying everyday in Iraq and THAT is more important then what focking celebrity is pregnant or what they did yesterday. Who gives a fock?! It makes me sick.:fm:

I have no sympathy for people who die OD'ing on drugs, whether they are illegal or prescription. Its all about the choices we make and no one should be glorified if they are an substance addict. Montel FTMFW.

To add to this...something funny. Anyone ever heard of an R&B artist named Ayanna?? Well, she was at my local Best Buy in the parking lot selling CD's (why, I do not know) and one of her "friends" or whatever he was comes up to me as I'm getting in my car and says, "Hey man, this is AYANNA!! She's right here!" I cranked up my Stang and revved that bitch to about 6 grand and said "What, I can't hear you and I don't give a f*ck!"

I agree with him. Totally sick how our society would rather cry over an over priviliged over paid actor killing himeself then the 28 troops that have died since the new year in a neadless war for oil and control. That is why I never watch these news programs. they never talk about what matters and when they do mention what matters they get the facts wrong. Ratings rule, because corprations run the news and want profits over real news.

whoa mate... you don't know that he killed himself. you are doing exactly what Fox News always does... which is speculate. until the reports are known... don't say things like that. i personally liked heath a lot... he's from the town where my dad is from.

not attacking you... if you choose to bash on him after the reports/autopsy is out... then feel free. until then... just let it be.

oh and yeah i enjoyed watching Montel put Fox News in their place... but I think he did it in the wrong way. he was told before being on the air that he was going to be questioned on the Heath Ledger story... yet he chose to do that on the air. i think he could've handled it much better. :nonono:

He's just looking for some attention. What he's doing is no better than any media outlet. Just an opinion.

I agree with what he's saying but going on someones TV show about one thing and talkling about somehting else is kinda stupid. He knew what the show was about when he signed up for it. If he is so sickened by Fox news why didnt he put out a statement explaining why he wouldnt do the show? That would have done more for his "cause" then what he did. Most people probably saw "montrel" and "dead celebrities" in the same sentence and changed the channel.

You're an idiot, go crawl back into your hole.

Well Im not gonna get into your school boy name calling. Dont you think with his so called celebrity he could fight against what he finds annoying, as do the rest of us, in a better way? If he would have went about it in a better way hell I wouldnt doubt Fox would do a whole show dedicated to it or maybe gave him his own show. Instead they probably wont have him back on and montrel will go back to free medicine commercials.

I see it as a man who had a good message and the access to proper forums for it and messed it up. What do think Fox or any other news outlet is gonna stop covering these screwed up actors now?

Trust me the first thing I thought was "hell yeah. Go montel!" Then i thought well he kinda looks like an asshole.

School boy name calling? LOL, don't act like you have never called someone a name other than the one their parent's gave them. Secondly, have you ever served in the military, more specifically, a combat zone? If your answer is no, then you have no idea the emotion behind his statements. And yes, I have been deployed, so I'll go ahead and put that out there.

I think Montel's point was not to make an ass out of himself, but to get his personal point across. Most of America would agree with him. Who gives two shits about someone who had large amounts of fame and wealth and chose to live a life of substance abuse? He had control over that. And FOX is an edgy network. This spot with Montel probably brought big ratings. It's all about drama. And Montel will never have a problem getting on TV. Much less because of this..

No I have never been deployed but never thought it a prerequisite to having an opinion on Montel. I appreciate your service but dont use it as a way to say your opinion means more than others.

Like I said i agree with every thing he said. It just didnt seem like the right time or place for it. I think he could use his celebrity status in a much more usefull way for the cause. Does that make sense peckerhead? There I called you a name. Happy now?

too be honest i never heard about Heth Ledgers death until i saw a thread of it on SVTP. (but also i dont watch too much TV either)

but im glad he said what he did! im so tired of hearing about useless celebrities *cough britney cough* because what they are in the publics eye they deserve more of our attention then the soldiers who are out there risking their lives so we can go on with our daily lives.
RIP to the 28 and god bless

I don't want JMD0346 to take all the heat... but it's true what he said... being in the military makes your opinion or point of view more valid than those who are not military?? I am quite frankly... to put it bluntly... sick of this attitude of... "I am military, bow before me, and worship."

I have family in the military... but none have that attitude. They know I appreciate what they do... they don't have to use every ***damn opportunity to throw it in my face.

I revert back to my original point, which is that Montel may have had good intentions... yet executed the plan poorly. He made himself look like a jerk.

when was the last time you heard about Heath getting arrested for DUI or for drug possession? it never happened. he was not Britney or Lindsay... he had class and was not the typical Hollywood junkie case. This is what is surprising.

let's be frank... if Britney kills herself tomorrow... what will be said??? "About ******* time!" or "I knew this was bound to happen"....

this was not the case with Heath.

Would you say that if Fox decided to bring in a random person off the street who worked at a lumber mill? Just because he has a TV show doesn't mean he's doing it for attention. Sure, he could have, but we don't know. Regardless, he has a VERY valid point. If he put out a statement saying why he wouldn't do the show only about 1/28th of the people who saw this would know about it.

Well atleast someone sees it as I do. Maybe that means Im not crazy... as much. Im tired of the attitude some have about serving but I dont say ever say anything to them. The vast majority that Ive met dont act or feel this way. Atleast not on the outside.

Whats so bad is I agree with who ever his name is above. I just thought it wasnt the right place to do it. It seemed to cheapen it if that makes sense. Like he tricked them into letting him on so he could rant.

I agree. I didn't get the vibe he was trying to bring attention to himself?!?! He was talking about the Iraq situation for christ sake.
