My money is on the Z if he can drive.......there have been stock C5Zs going high 11s to mid 12s

Very true. I ran numerous 12.0X's and even an 11.90 on 18" Nitto Drags on my 02 Z06 when all it had was a Halltech Air Intake and Catback exhaust and only put down 365rwhp. Also my 02 Z06 weighed 3180 with me in the car (180 lbs) 1/2 tank of gas, 2 full bottles of nitrous, 2 10" subs, a 1000W amp and aftermarket stereo.

Z's weigh 3100 lbs. 3100/405 = 7.65
with aftermarket exhaust they can weight as little as 3050

They can actually even weigh much less than that. When I took the stock midpipe and cats off, the air pump system off and went from a steel flywheel to an aluminum it shed ALOT of weight. I'd love to put mine on a scale now if I hade one nearby.

when did the 427 run 12.2? was that on drs? what was the short time?

power to weight is not that different. the vette has proven time and time again to run from a dig much better than a stock mustang regardless of power.
p51 3600/510 ~ 7.06
z06 3100/405 ~ 7.65

under ideal conditions with a great driver can the p51 run a 11.7x? and if it can it would only be running the same times that the vette can run. i dont believe it can run that fast on stock tires(on dr's yes the p51 should run this fast or slightly better). so i give the edge to the vette. not saying the mustang can not win, just saying he will have to outdrive the vette for the win.

MM&FF ran a 12.2 with one wearing DR's.

MM&FF always has good times though. I think they ran a 12.3 with a stock 03 Cobra. Who else has done that? Englishtown must be a pretty good track.

MM&FF just did a spread on the 08 427R Auto.(435 fly hp- the 07 was 427 fly hp) 12.2 was with DR's. But it was running mid 12's with stock rubber. I'll have to go back and look at the article about the exact 60 foot times but they were pretty decent- under 2.0's. That's why I'm saying the P51 SHOULD be in the mid to high 11's especially with DR's given the fact that it has a lot more power and trq. Check the article out bro- almost makes me want to get a Roush- almost. the MSRP is in the 60's. For that kind of coin I'd get a C6 or C5Z.

Definitely not taking anything away from the Vette. With a lower wt the 60 foot times should be pretty darn good. Given equal drivers and equal launches the Roush should reel the Vette in by 1000ft and pass him by the end of the qtr.....then again ANYTHING can happen on the street or the track.

We need to see some vid of this- it'll be a good race either way.

Not sure about that. On the corvette forums a 08' C6 went 11.7 at something like 119mph.

The 08 Vettes are LS3s, not LS2s. There's a big power difference between the LS2 C6s and the LS3 C6s, and it shows at the track and on the dyno. Just FYI. :)

12.3 with a stock Cobra:eek: WOW- that's amazing. Weren't they also the ones who ran 12.8 in a stock Mach? Scott Hoag right?

this mag racing is getting out of control. and most of these times are not correct or have something missing! such as tires!

under 2.0 with or without tires?

as stated the 427 was not running 12.2 stock. yes the p51 will be faster, but it will not be more than a .5 sec faster. this would put the p51 in the very low 12's. as stated before this is still slower than a stock c5 z. on drag radials, would make it one hell of a race.

Well since I don't actually KNOW anyone with a P51....nor have I seen any on this board I'll just have to take the magazines word for it:beer:

If anyone out there in SVTP land has an 08 auto 427R or an 08 P51 please chime in......(chirp, chirp, chirp).....see ON D BIT- nuthin but crickets.

i will be the first to admit i am wrong if i am indeed wrong. i just dont see the p51 breaking 12 secs with stock tires on it. yes it will be faster than the 427r by .3 to .4 secs i would guess. if this is true the p51 is a very low 12 sec car.

yes with tires and a tune, the p51 would presumably run 11.5 or better sweet!:pepper: now were talking stock c6 z area!

You are correct....

12.43 @ 113 mph / October 2002 MM&FF (Bone Stock Cobra)

If anyone can find that Issue and scan the page I would be greatly in dept! (I do not have it)

You guys are funny getting all worked up about this. With equal launches, the Roush should beat the C5Z no problem. Vettes are easier to launch though, so it really comes down to driver and what tires they'll be running. I've gotten 1.9 60-fts on cheap ass Falken ZX512 radials before in a 3600lb (with me) mustang with roadrace suspension though so it's entirely possible that the stang can get a good launch.
