This isnt the first time a stg 5 plate has broken off.
This isnt the first time someone has been verbally abused by stieg over the phone without provication.
This isnt the first time someone has had an issue with a stieg port and this exact same scenario has played out
Will it be the last?

I'm going to state now in the open that this post is my opinion based upon the situation that the op described and has as much right to be said as everyone before me.

Well said. Couldn't agree more.

That plate looks incredibly cheap! I had a stg 5 blower from steggy and it looked nothing like that. I'm not sure it was even that thin.

You should a pic of the steggy stamp and numbers as well.
I had a steggy blower and I talked to Bob on the phone as well... he did nothing but help me get to where I wanted to be. Not saying this didn't happen, as I'm sure the OP has nothing to lie about. I'm sure Steggy will chime in.

OP, Sorry to hear about that. I'm sure you were heated, I know I would've been. I'm sure POSI will straighten it out for you.

In before thread delete....................

Good luck getting everything sorted out OP. The entire situation sucks ass and Steg should do SOMETHING to right the situation. However, like stated before this is not the first time we have heard the horror stories. I'm usually very slow to jump to conclusions about a company as I can only trust soooo much that I read and see in the internet but lately I have been seeing alot in reguards to steg. A good friend of mine also has a stage 5+ port and only made 470rwhp and we can't figure out the problem. Guess its time to pull the eaton and take a look........

Wow, subscribing for sure! If I owned a business based around performance enthusiasts and one of my customers was treated this way, I'd be doing some serious ass chewing and doing everything I could to make it right!

Wait a minute. If I understand this correctly, you paid $1,500 for a port, then when the blower came back, you just put on the car? How did it look out of the box? Anything significant happen during the install? Blower was turning freely without making any noise?

Giving the OP the benefit of the doubt, it looked fine at install time. So air moving through the blower knocked that chunk out? Really? No problem with the install? If a rotor knocked that chunk out, the damage should be visible when they are pulled out. Was it shipping damage? A chunk like that doesn't just fall out on it's own. If it did, then something should have been visible before it was installed.

I'm not saying that Bob is blameless because I don't know all of the facts, I just suspect that something is missing from the picture.

OP, that really sucks. Is this what the blower looked like when you received it back from Steig?

Even worse, aren't they offering a $395 stg. 5 port now.... hope this is not the quality you get for that price.

This is his revised stage 5 as he has had a ton of issues with the 1st gen that has the thin sheet material.

I went through the exact same issue with mine. It was installed on the car just 2 months prior to me buying it. I think the owner was a bit miffed with the low dyno numbers (480ish) and having to deal with Stieg on the back end. I added a welded Dragon, 4lb lower, BAP, along with several other items. Off to the dyno....489 was the best we could muster up with 10 pulls and tons of tweeking. I got tired of the 11.4's and felt that the car just didn't run right. I picked up a well used Stage 4 here on the boards and sen tit off to Brian for his Race Port. Upon install of the Posi ported blower I found all the same problems with my torque plate. Basically only 1 weld stil 1/2 holding it on. I was like WTF?? :mj:

Bolted on the "new" blower, fired it up and WOW, it was like a whole new car, The car reved smother, sounded better, Idled better, pulled like a freight train.....Wham. I was very happy but also though, Son of a bitch this Stage 5 blower doesn't even had 1000 miles on it. I took it back to the same tuner (very good tuner BTW. He tune Jakes car which is the fastes Eaton car in the country) and gave it another whack. I didn't realize that slicks were bad for the Dyno #'s and Pete informed me that I will see low #'s because of it but he would get my a/f spot on for me. 1st pull and I was amazed. + 38 RWHP and the torque was up even more. All with full slicks! Took no time to get the tune just right. He was amazed and said that I could add 15-20++ to both #'s if I showed up with street radials. I was very pleased. The seat of the pants dyno was telling me it was going to see better times and an 11.01 confirmed it. My Goal of 10's was missed this past season as we just ran out of time along with the Terminator Shootout being canceled due to weather.

I did send the blowere back to Stieg and he updated it for me but I wasn't happy with his attitude :bash: and he made me pay shipping both ways. IMO Brian is the ONLY porter I would use HANDS DOWN!

Have NEVER been a fan of the Stage 5 torque plate. Way too much risk for way too little reward. Sorry to see this happen, but as others have posted: not the first time the torque plate of the Stage 5 has had issues.
