Finally got the thing out. I was only able to get the pulleys off before I called it a night.

That's a good start. Where's the engine stand?
The 3 of them already have engines on them. Mine is hanging about 1/2” off the ground at the moment with a wood block under it, just in case. I have to get one of the other blocks off the stands so I can get mine on there.

Wow crazy.

Did you shut it down before the bottom end starved for oil or is the bottom end done too?

There are thousands of tiny metal pieces in the oil pan. They definitely made it into the motor. I can’t turn the crank, so it has to come apart. I’m just hoping the block is still usable.

well that is good advertisement to encourage people to do OPGs at least .... you will have to inspect it all thoroughly

That’s the plan. I’ll be inspecting the heads, all the components connected to them, the crankshaft, the block, etc. Then rip all those internals out, see if the block can be machined, and if I’m lucky throw some forged stuff in there.

Update: Cylinder walls and pistons look perfectly fine. Crank and rod bearings on the other hand, not so much.

Yeah, those are a little worn...a little. How deep are the grooves on the crank journals? Hopefully it can be ground slightly to be used again. I assume that you will be doing upgraded internals. At least rods and pistons anyway. I wish Ford would just put a good pump in and charge the extra $350 on the car.
