Went and test drove a 2013 Audi S6 Prestige this morning with 81K on the clock ($28.5K), but $500 gets you a 2 year/100K powertrain warranty. I loved it. Freaking LOVED it... However, I have no reason to replace my car with it other than just because. The car is everything I wanted, minus the exhaust being way too quiet. My vote stands with an S6.
Every time I see the Audi cars in my neighborhood, I'm blown away at how awesome they look. Awesome looking cars.
Never mind the performance after simple mods.

I had to look this up to see what you were talking about. Bad ass. Essentially a diesel M5 wagon. No chance this makes it to the US. Also, list would be >2x OP's budget. Other than that is a good choice though.

Well since he's already looking at a 13-14 GT500 I'm assuming it doesn't have to be brand new.

The M550D is quite ridiculous in case of what it is, as you say basically a diesel M5.
But do you have by any chance 535d in the US? They have a "Moderate" 300ish HP and can be tuned up to become pretty scary.

While I'd love to say Hellcat or Roadrunner, reality is I live in the now belt, drive 20k miles a year and own a home, Motorcycles and project cars...

Even if I got rid of the project cars, truck would still be the answer.

So $45k, either a brand new loaded Tacoma, used loaded Ram 2500 Cummins or used Gelandenwagen.

I'm pretty much there since I still have my 05 Tacoma as a beater and my G55 as a daily.

hands down 996TT, still reasonably affordable and engines are bulletproof.
This.

Since Porsche guys hate the look of the car, they are cheap compared to other 911s. But, that is changing now that knowledge isn't a secret anymore.

Eh, the cars are so cheaply built however. Even with the leather dash package it's "meh".

If rather just have a cheap beater Boxster again.

If you don't need a truck, what about certified GLA45 amg? Turbo 4, but I bet it's a fun little car to DD. I was looking at these, but then got a deal on a brand new Jag XE 35t through my Uncle's dealership that I couldn't pass up. I'll end up making money on it.

You buy a TT for the specs, not interior. That motor is really stout, can make huge power and can flog on it and it will keep asking for more. I can’t think of another car that’s that reliable and fast and can be driven everyday without issues, then go hammer the road course and drive back home.

Boxster is a great weekend track car for cheap, but I like the look of the Cayman more. Never been a huge open top guy.

The word you are looking for is Corvette.

The Mezger based H6 is a strong compared to the M9x.xx, but I wouldn't call it industructable. The cars also have plenty of other expensive quirks. And if you lose your Mezger, it's a small fortune to replace.

997 Turbo is a better car by huge margins and is certainly a future classic... But that's why they've held their prices while the 996 tanked.

Hell, E55 is like $15k and can throw down 600whp all day with some basic mods.

True, but the E55 *could* cost you another $15K in the first 3-5 years of ownership.

I kind of agree, however there is no 986 Cayman. I never liked drop tops till I had the Boxster and found my self using it daily.

The 987 cars are just as Meh to me as the original Boxster, only more expensive. Now thr 981...oh boy.

C5 and C6 zo6 can be had much less then 45k, and unless you only track them they are not fun cars to live with every day. Had a c6z06 and was not my cup of team. The metzker engine is very stout and a well regarded motor, nothing is indestructible. For the price they are great cars, and if it was not for lack of garage space I think now is the time to buy, and I would.

I don’t know if I’ll find something that I like as much when it’s time to replace mine. I already don’t like the 2019’s because no V8, so I’m planning on driving the wheels off of it.

Exhaust is an easy mod, and the 4.0 sounds amazing with something as simple as a “suitcase” delete. :)

I spent half the day watching different YouTube vids and yes, it sounds great with little work! Hopefully I'll find out for myself someday.
