Does anybody have any information on ford vehicles from 1996-2004 (mustang preferably) having the factory throttle cable sticking? I had the throttle hang up on my mustang causing an accident. I am in need of any information on this being a possible common issue with ford factory throttle cables. Thanks.

Nope, but I can see that happening on a 20 year old car. Wire gets corroded and starts to stick in the tube.

There's a TSB for 03/04 Cobras about the throttle pedal getting stuck on the carpet. The fix was a piece of plastic to cover the corner of the carpet. I'm not sure if that's the same for the earlier models. My 01 didn't have that problem.

Your mom
"Throttle stuck"....

Smackdown in 3....2...

You really tried that excuse, didn't you? What did they charge you with? Reckless driving maybe?

If not and you simply think you can get some money from Ford....exhibit "A" for the defense will be the pic of that cold air intake as proof you modified the car and removes any liability on their part.

My pedal gets stuck under the floor mat when I go full throttle. I remove my mat if I’m going to be hooning.

I had mine stick open

But not because of cable.

The rubber seal on air tube at throttle body.

After a few years of oil it softens and rips.

I had a piece get sucked in and it caused just that (wot)

I turned key off to stop car.
Mine got stuck the first day I drove it home. The screw for the hose clamp was on the side with the throttle arm. That was eye opening.

My 01 has worn the carpet out under the pedal and has gotten stuck once or twice. Pushing the clutch in and stomping on the gas fixes it.

Also judging by the fact that you were on a residential street you shouldn't have been going WOT anyway. This is on you. Own up to it and stop trying to blame someone else.
