They told you that so they don't get charged back from the lender. If you keep the loan for 6 months, they keep their money that the lender gives them.

What you should do, is say ok. Buy it. Call the lender within 30 days, explain to them that the dealer was being unethical and that you would like to pay off your vehicle.
How much $$$ are we talking in the financing kick back from the bank?
How much is it worth to the dealership?
Probably a BS dealer policy the lower sales guy must stay too. I’m guessing a serious talk with the GM would wave that and probably save you some ADM.
Especially if your local and a future client.

I thought once it was titled and initially financed it could not be refinanced as a new vehicle. Maybe state laws differ?

I think CoVid Derangement Syndrome is the new Trump Derangement Syndrome.

New for a bank and new/used for registration are different.

If a bank wants to say all cars eligible for new car rates are anything under 5 years old, that's their prerogative

4 years ago, I was buying a SD, but did not know where, yet. To prepare, I went to BoA and in essence got "pre approved". I then had a letter, that I took to the dealership when I found the truck I wanted. Was a great process, eliminated any drama at the dealer, and also got rid of any extra credit checks, that dealers seem to run. Even got a great rate that was even further discounted .5% bcause of "select client" status (or what ever its called). Worked for me, and I would do that again, when not paying cash for a vehicle.

You would think they could just be happy with selling the vehicle for a agreed upon price.

Several auto loan lenders have pre-payment penalties like USBANK. It’s easy to pay it off within 30 days. But depending on the lender and when a dealer has the deal funded this process isn’t always as easy when it comes to re-financing especially when it’s a new car out of state with a new MSO that needs to be registered and titled new and refinanced without avoiding fees.
US Bank is one of my lenders, they don't charge an early termination fee. Maybe they do on direct lending and not indirect?

Depending on how much of the $100k he's financing, could be $6-8k.

$10k ADM, which I can live with.
They told me I had to make 6 payments before paying off.
I'm confused. A $10K ADM? But they apparently just lowered the sale price from $109,804. to $100,000. That just under a $10K drop. So are they still charging a $10K ADM after lowering the price?

I'm just not seeing the problem here, if you like the vehicle and it's a price you're willing to pay, buy it. If you don't like their financing, nothing is going to stop you from paying it off or rolling into another loan. When they dealer calls to complain, just block the number.

$100k for a Dodge? Tell me you're paying way less than half that because no new Dodge outside of a Viper is worth that kind of money.
Its 2021, not the 90's anymore. We'll be seeing Civics above 30's soon if they're not there already.

You have Explorer's in the 60's and Mustangs in the 70's. If an Explorer had the GT500 engine, no doubt itll be in the Rango's Hellcat price range.

Wow! And with an original MSRP of 45k. Didnt even know Type R's still existed

Yeah, that one guy from here used to have one. Kaneda or whatever his name was.

They're neat little cars. Most of them transact in the $50-60k range. This one was supposedly the first one in the US.

I have to admit that I forgot there was a Hellcat Durango now which is what he is looking to buy. I thought it was the SRT 392 Durango so thinking that was going for over 100k is what was shocking. It makes more sense now realizing it is a Hellcat but I still wouldn't pay over 100k for a Durango, or any Dodge for that matter outside of the Viper.

A lot of late model Vipers you'd have to start looking around $200k haha

Not surprising. The American supercars have a tendency to skyrocket right after they go out of production, or even while they are in production in the case of the FGTs.

It'll be the norm for high powered vehicles for any brand from here on forward. Then again, we're going EV now LOL

Holy crap! I was NOT expecting to see that. There will be more insanity coming.

Nick, is your Viper worth more today than it was when you bought it last year? Pretty sure it was last year.

my nephew and his wife just bought a 2021 Durango SRT at sticker, which was just over $70k, they wanted a Hellcat Durango but prices were just too stupid on them.

It’s a lot of money, but it is a damn nice vehicle! drives and rides excellent, sounds amazing, lots of nice options
