I think I posted the jeep last summer. Well, the engine I used for the build, ground up from pieces, was used. And it was in poor condition dripping from every orfice, lifter clatter and massive blowby. When I took it apart most of the cylinders had multi piece compression rings! I don't know how it was running. Also, I couldn't keep bearings in the rear axle with its 1 piece axle conversion.

Well, removed the engine last fall. Full engine rebuild (304 v8, amc) and put 9" ends on the axle. Also powder coated the rims black and put new shoes on it.

Took what seemed FOREVER but the rebuild is complete and all put back together. Engine purrs, no clatter or blowby. The axle seems good to go, time will tell.

Hell of a first post after 16 years…
Back then, I could just admire from afar. I recently FINALLY got a decent L.
I was ripped off on my last one and it took me a LONG time to recover.
Took me 32 to be able to replace my first car that was stolen while I was deployed for Desert Shield/Desert Storm (my ‘69 Mustang) and 6 years to finally get a nice Lightning that wasn’t beat and had lots of documentation.
