But... that is at the wheels.
It is also a supporting mod. Meaning if you have bolt on' s, numbers could be exponentially more.
Problem with 4.6 4V (96-98), is there are not a lot of supporting heads and cams (N/A) to choose from.
Therefore c heads with b cams is best optiion
Keep in mind, 4.6's lack displacement naturally, so they need port velocity to scavenge,
Increasing exhaust port opening, will lessen velocity, harming performance. If you have good velocity on intake (ie force induction), then porting exhaust makes sense.
As far as b vs c head, c's flow...
Problem was the FRPP wires. They have gone sown hill since 2016, when Ford outsourced production to a plant in Mexico. I know from personal experience, Google the reviews.
I got motorcraft 8mm oem replacements, problem went away.
If your car came with msd wires, they could be dry rot /...
Any updates??
I too have thin white smoke at initial idle, and it smells rich too.
I've been told it's because my O/R xpipe, but I don't buy that completely. I understand the logic, but think it's something else...
Let us know what you find.
Awesome, thank you brother.
I don't want to go force injection for multiple reasons... there's something sexy about pushing these 4v's N/A.
I plan on going to that salvage yard in Georgia the first weekend of March. They are only open one Saturday a month which sucks.
Once I go get the...
Yeah lol, tons of questions, but I'll just ask the main ones.
Been following this thread, and other c head swap threads, as this may be something I'd be interested in doing. Currently have '97 cobra
1. Did you ever take a baseline dyno, to see what the bump was after switching heads? Any...
@850SNCobra send me a message if you ever head this way and we can go cruising or something. I don't have any other "mustang" friends around here lol, but I do want to join a group or something. I believe there's a group called 850 Mustangs around here that I need to look up.
Cheers brother...

Ford motorcraft wires and be done. Msd wires look nice and have heard positive things, but not sure if worth the premium you would pay.
Motorcraft 8mm wires are $74 on rockauto.com
Yeah it does suck. I had read so much good stuff about FRPP wires, that I was excited to get them earlier this year when doing plug and wire change.
I've gone back to the 8mm MotorCraft wires, and had no issues. Got them from RockAuto.com, for about 60% of what AM or LMR wanted for them...
Did you ever figure it out??
I was having hesitation and miss fires for the last 3 weeks, and couldn't figure out why. On a hunch, and after reading many posts on svtp, I thought I would try changing out my plug wires, as I had installed new FRPP 9mm wires about 6 months ago.
So I bought new...
It's even more disappointing after you spend the money lol...
If you can find some produced earlier than 2017, you may be alright, as all the negative reviews I have seen come from this year.
I looked over the wires after I pulled them out, and I could not see any visible signs of...
Update 10/04:
Changed out FRPP 9mm wires, to Motorcraft 8mm OEM wires. Hesitation and missing gone.
Something is wrong with the quality of the FRPP wires in 2017. Pisses me off that I spent the extra money on them 6 months ago, only for them to fail.
Update:
I installed the new Motorcraft OEM 8mm wires, misfire and hesitation gone... So it was the f****** FRPP wires I installed 6 months ago, making the car miss and hesitate.
Checked each plug as I changed wires; all dry and still gapped at .054
As a good measure, I removed MAF sensor...
I cleaned it when I installed CAI, and I just cleaned it yesterday when I learned of the code.
When I cleaned it yesterday, it looked spotless, so I don't know...
I unplugged battery most of day to reset ecm, hopefully code won't come back.
Keep you boys posted once new plug wires come in
@ForcFed93 I too have '97 pacific green cobra, must be the color lol...
I ordered Motorcraft 8mm OEM wires from RockAuto for $73 and some change. Great price, considering Ford Dealer wanted to charge me $133.
New wires should arrive next Wednesday 10/04, and I will be putting them on them...
I bought FRPP 9mm wires earlier this year and installed them in Feb, along with MSD coil packs and NGK plugs. No problems, up until a few weeks ago. Started hesitating/stumbling at low RPM, and you could hear faint misfires in exhaust. Wasn't sure the issue, until I cam across multiple...
'97 Cobra, 80k miles, just started having issues.
I am literally having this problem that jimcobber and forcedfed had.
Bought new wires, coils, and plugs from American Muscle earlier this year. FRPP 9mm blue wires, MSD coil packs, NGK plugs.
For the last 2 weeks, my car has been running like...
