You'll need a port, a good set of sticky tires "soft sidewall so you can launch the shit out of it" and some weight reduction.

You might could get there with only 2 of the three listed above, but I don't think it can happen without at least tires and a diet.

suspension, suspension, suspension!!!!! good tires and some weight reduction.

I'm unported, lightning upper, 4 lb lower, full exhaust, T.B.+plenum, cold air, bigs and littles and lots of suspension numbers in sig. weighed a little under 3700 lbs with me in the car.

Let me put it like this, it's possible to run 10's with an Eaton...but only a very small percentage of Cobras will ever see a 10 with an Eaton.

You'll need the following along with the necessary supporting mods to achieve them:

- good weather
- weight reduction
- serious traction (~ 1.5 sixty foot)
- excellent driving skills
- power (ported Eaton would be best)

i just dont see why everyone is going twin screw all over the place? if its possible to run 10's with under 500 whp/tq then why is everyone changing out their eaton? i dont see all the twin screw guys running 9's and 8's with 150whp more so what gives? why spend the extra 1500-3k on a twin screw when you can spend less and run 10's?

You'll know the answer to your questions when you try to run 10's on the Eaton.

9's and 8's with 650rwhp??? I hope that's a joke.

yes it was a joke i was exaggerating because it seems if 10's are possible with an eaton high 9's shouldn't be too difficult with a twin screw. and i know 10's is a big goal but if 20+ people have done it and some without even porting their blowers then it is definitely possible and i dont why more people havnt tried with an eaton?

20+ people out of thousands have run 10's with an Eaton. That's a fraction of a percent. The vast majority of us have full interiors and the T-56 still. There is nothing easy about running 9's with a twin screw, a 3,800+lbs car (with driver), and a stick shift.

I don't mean to be rude, but it sounds like you don't have much experience drag racing. Maybe I'm wrong. I think you'll find out why people go the twin screw route once you make an attempt at running 10's with the Eaton.

Best of luck to you.

unit213 im not trying to say its easy i know its far from easy. but it can be done and it seems a lot of people instead of seeing what they can do with what they have just try to throw more power at it or throw a SRA, or an auto in there or all of the above and see if that works. im just trying to figure out why more people havnt tried it. lots of people just skip the port and go straight to TS. they dont even know what their car is capable of before they completely change it. if my car can run 10's with an IRS, t-56 and diet then why waste money throwing parts at it when what you have is good enough? and i think most people, not all, would say a 10 second street car is pretty damn good.

Most people don't have the need nor the desire to trailer their cars to the track and have two dedicated sets of wheels. It's pretty much been proven unless you have big's n little's you don't stand much of a chance. Plus a little weight reduction but that can be easy stuff. Like pulling the front swaybar and removing things out of the trunk.

I believe that's the number 1 reason why more people haven't ran 10's.

why would you need to trailer the car? you can drive on bigs and littles to and from the track ive seen people do it. and i believe that many people have at least an extra set of rear wheels and tires for the track. and ive read a few threads on here where you can drop 2-300 lbs easy on these cars. its seems like a simple recipe if you have a good driver so im still wondering why more people havnt?

That was with no spray and on Hossier full slicks. I am still running a steel wheel in the back but have skinnies and i took out the back seat, passengers seat and spare. I am going to try again on Sept. 26TH when it gets cooler around here and see how it goes.

A ported pullied Eaton with 500+ is a blast on the street.
An upgraded larger blower with 600+ is amazing.
I was able to get 11.3s at mid 120s with my ported Eaton vert. Could I have gotten 10s, maybe.
Very few can do it on Eaton alone.
Then I added a 100 shot and consistently ran mid 10s at 130-134 with a best of [email protected] on the IRS and 6 speed.
This is with slicks, skinnies and weight reduction.
Recently I had the opportunity to try a new prototye TVS 2.3
After some small gremlins I was able to make one good pass in Fl heat and ran 10.9@129 while spinning badly off the line.
I hope to get some more track time soon and really see what this thing can do then add a bit of spray will do.
