I got some work done today.

I started out painting the inner fender area.

Then I went out and bought a bunch of paint

IMG_2617_zpsa76b8f8d.jpg

Then I began work on the engine.

This is how much dust was built up in the balancer and crank pulley.

I tore it down to a shortblock and spent a few hours cleaning and degreasing the block before painting it. I'm still unsure on if I like the color, but I'll know for sure once I get some more stuff painted and mock it all up.

Ignore the oil pan, It's coming off to weld an oil drain line on so I'll paint it while it's off.

Then I started degreasing and sanding on a few brackets.

IMG_2585_zps7da29ce2.jpg

And painted them up

And I also got a delivery.

A little mockup of the scottrod panels. I had to do a little modding to make them fit but they fit AMAZING. Well worth the money!

And a mockup of some 315/30/18's I snagged for free.

Next up is painting almost every piece for the engine. I have everything needed to put it together either next to the car or in the mail minus a good stall. Then it'll be time to weld up the bay and get some color on it. I've never welded or painted with real paint before so it should be interesting... It'll probably turn out pretty terrible the first time but we shall see.

I haven't had much time to mess with the car lately. But I made a little bit of progress today.

I got some more parts painted and stashed in the corner.

I have accumulated a decent stash of new parts as well.

I cleaned and painted the heads and intake today too. I went on and mocked everything up to see how it would look. I like.

Thanks everyone! I worked on it some today.

First I rolled the fenders some more. This will be the new stance.

I got some more stuff cleaned and painted.

I picked up another AOD. It's got the 4r70w internals, Lentech valve body with overdrive on a switch, and a Lentech (TCS) 3000 stall. It should be bulletproof behind this underpowered motor which is what I want. Then I sold my other AOD for $100 less than I paid for this one.

I got my order from LRS. Full length subframe connectors, heater hoses and stuff like that, and control arms.

The SVE control arms

And installed.

This is where the majority of the day was spent. I wire wheeled the entire underside of the car back to the rear end and painted it.

Nice work! I bought a 90 coupe last month. I've been spending a lot of time trying to get the body straight. Ive got a question about the scottrod panels. Do you paint the backside of the panel and then weld them in? Just curious, I'm wanting to buy some myself, but i'm worried about after you weld the panels in, there will be rust from the backside of the panel. Especially where the weld burns the paint off the the backside of the panel.

I haven't done it yet, but I do plan on priming the back side of the panels and then welding them in.

Your builds are nice like always. Amazing what some time and effort can do to a vehicle if done right without spending a ton of money. Seems like the more and more time passes, the more I learn, and the more money I make, I still like doing these types of projects best. Whenever I break down and do a big budget all out build, it just sits for 3-5 years at least and never gets done all the way. If it does, then I spent so much time and money on it that I don't want it to leave the garage and something happen to it :-D.

Exactly. I want a fun little car that I don't have to worry about breaking, doesn't break the bank, can beat on all day long, and still be able to pull up to a show without feeling totally out of place.

Well I bought my first welder. It's just a 130 MIG, but it's something at least.

IMG_2869_zps9f70073f.jpg

Then I got my drop brackets and installed them.

IMG_2890_zps9cb6b56f.jpg

Here's a look at some of the parts I have ready for the car.

IMG_4020_zps749c3a5b.jpg

And I finally got the car on the ground for the first time in months.

IMG_6383_zpsf7ea1641.jpg

Then I got my buddy to TIG my oil drain fitting onto my oil pan.

IMG_3024_zpsda1f08a6.jpg

And I spent a few hours on the oil pan, it was a mess. It looks like crap still, but a ton better than it did.

My valve cover.

IMG_3029_zps07c4c952.jpg

And where the majority of the day was spent. My buddy and I got a decent amount of work done until we ran out of wire. Most of the holes are filled in and ground down.
