Sorry if this is a re-post, but I found this article and think the results are AWESOME!!!

2010 Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport vs. 2011 Ford Shelby GT500

Wow, this is statement all by itself..................

" As our numbers show, the 2011 model trumps the “King of the Road” in every performance category, while hanging with, or besting, the Corvette Grand Sport."

I am still trying to figure out how this 2011 can be handling better with these 19's and 20's. I thought that these bigger tires/rims sucked when it comes to handling, or so it has been said............you know, more spinning mass/weight at each corner, shorter sidewall, etc., etc....

Apparently the people who have real test equip. and test facilities think differently?

The vette has the same rubber fwiw

The '10 Vette GS is running the older F1 SC tires from the 2010 GT500, not these new G2 tires from the '11 GT500. Much different tire.

Still, I find it hard to believe, even though I am a GT500 owner (though not a 2011), that it can best a Vette around a track. I tend to scrutinize R&T and MotorTrend as I have noticed bias from them before. I think it will really come down to the driver rather, since the cars are so closely matched.

I own a GT500 (not an 11) and love the car, but I don't see how they called the GT500 the winner or "trumps" the vette in every category. It only won in the skid pad and tied on 0-100 and braking 80-0. It lost all the other categories. I like both cars and I perfer the GT500, but I wouldn't say the GT500 won that one, at least not based purely on performance.

Maybe "trumps" doesn't mean what they think it means? :)

Nope

Yep

They are the EMT versions of the older F1's.

That still takes nothing away from the 500's impressive performance
2011 vettes and gt500s share same exact rubber. Why r they comparing a 2010 and a 2011.... makes no sense.
I did not notice it was a 2010 . Silly magazines haha

Maybe they don't have a 2011 GS Corvette in the parking lot to test against? ;-)
I agree, it is odd...

I think the take away here is that the 2011 GT500 has come a long way to even be near some of these numbers considering it's a "Pony Car" with 4 seats instead of 2, and it's not sporting a lot of Fiberglass, an IRS, double wish bone front suspension, with Coil overs, etc etc...

The GS uses the EMT versions. That I am 100% sure on. So unless the 500 has the run flat versions of the F1, then they use different tires.

run flat or not should not matter in traction should it?

I hear the run flats ride harder and everyone hates them but...

Still impressive, I would like to see actual track times though. I'd much rather have the GT400 as I have no use for a 2 seater. Maybe if I had no kids a 2 seater would be ok.
