Many of you have been dying to see what Shelby American can do with the new 5.8 L V8 Ford stuffed in the 2013 Ford Shelby GT500. Shelby American is excited to tell you all production has begun on a 2013 Shelby GT500 Super Snake! They will be updating this album continuously as this Candy Red transforms into a Super Snake. Stay tuned!

During a recent visit to Shelby American headquarters, we spotted a pair of '13 GT500s, one for Super Snake engine development and the other to prototype aesthetic, braking, and suspension upgrades.

With 662 horsepower from Ford as the starting point, the '13 Super Snake may be offered in two packages - one with a modest power increase and another packing closer to 900 horsepower. Both will likely include traditional Super Snake upgrades like SS hood, larger wheels and tires, revised springs, and larger brakes.

Shelby American plans to unveil the '13 Super Snake within the next few weeks.

The 4th pic has a grey SS with a black stripe on the left. Looking at their site, the 2013 SS site is under construction. Would love to see the new specs

Yes, the car is in the main shop at Shelby. If you look closely in a couple of the first pictures you can see the signature wall where people that have toured the facility sign the wall. Been in the shop a number of times.

^^^appears to be a 2011-2012 Super Snake Shelby 1000. Doesn't have the 2013 tails or rear bumper.

I posted a thread about this a few weeks ago. Friend of mine was talking to Shelby about placing an order and as of last month Shelby had no clue what was going to go into the 2013 SS. So for them to have a completed package by now is unlikely. The car in the first post is probably just undergoing the initial tear down as they develop the package.

2013 GT500 Super Snake Build Update
As the build continues on the 2013 Shelby GT500 Super Snake, newly designed parts are added to combat the amount of heat this monster 5.8L V8 produces. Today a larger radiator and an extra heat exchanger are installed, along with all the necessary fluid tanks. For that unique Shelby sound, Shelby American and Borla have designed a performance exhaust system that opens up the air flow. Stay tuned next week as we keep up with this Snake!

As we continue transforming this incredible GT500 into a Shelby Super Snake, first up on the laundry list of upgrades? Big time stopping power. New 6 piston calipers along with cross-drilled and slotted rotors are installed. New watts link is also added for improved dynamics and overall handling. Stay tuned for more!
