Man I always come back to the throttle body upgrade question. I'm ~ 780rwhp/740rwtq w/ Whipple Gen 3 2.9 @ 19psi on my 2013 pump gas tune still running the VMP Twin 67mm TB. Drivability is PERFECT! Monoblade likely makes more peak power but will I kick myself for going backwards in drivability? And which monoblade works best for a streetcar....Whipple 170mm, FRPP Mono, or ??? And why the hell can't a manufacturer make a larger twin TB that idles well, has great part throttle/drivability, and supports big power? I tried an L&M Twin 72mm and it would not idle/drive. Is the TB gain/risk really worth it at my power level? Also adding an E85 tun w BAP this Fall.

There is a lot of good data for the Super Cobra Jet, any halfway decent tuner should be able to make a SCJ drive like stock.

Did you send it to Accufab to fix?

That tq number is crazy high. You are probably 727/720 and +/- 20 on the tq
It's currently at accufab getting fixed. I couldn't believe the numbers either but that's what it read on the dyno.

What dyno?
the previous had the car dynoed at PSE superchargers in Edmond OK. here is the dyno sheet. In AZ the power might be a little lower.

Monoblade definitely worthwhile upgrade here but he’s got over 900rwhp and happy so I’m pretty sure he’s not missing the 30-50rwhp he’s giving up.
Definitely not on those street 20s.
I had no issues with driveability with a Whipple 170 but the BPS twin 72 had issues after it was warm.
The real question is where are the TBs designed for the Gen 3.....
I doubt it’ll get there but I’ll be trying to push 1100rwhp with the Gen 3 upgrade.
I really think it’ll need porting to get there but 965rwhp Gen2R swapping only Gen3 will move to 1xxxrwhp?
At this point it looks like I’m keeping the Whipple 170 with an adapter.

Whipple 170mm may be my next throttle body along w E85 tune this Fall. I actually had one on my 2007 w 3.4 Whipple and it drove pretty well though not as perfect as the Twin 67mm. I think the larger 170mm will definitely help my Whipple Gen 3 2.9 breath more efficiently.

The issue with the mono blade is there is a good chance of having driveability issues. Not saying a good tuner cant tune around it. But most have issues, I tried a mono blade on my 14 GT500 and Lund couldn't get the car to run correctly so back to the twin 65 T/B I went. Even with the twin T/B I still make 727whp and 798wtq.
I know this isnt the same motor, but when I got a Cobra jet intake manifold it came with 67mm TB. AED refused to tune it and said I need to run a CJ monoblade. Weird how its back and forth. Maybe for the blown cars, the twin TB is ideal over a single blade?

The mono blade is a lot for a N/A engine. I would think the car would run better with a twin 65mm. But Shaun is a badass tuner so I would trust him.

For blown car a twin TB is much less ideal, since more airflow is required. Like I said, there is good data out for the CJ monoblade which is likely why Shaun wanted to use that TB.

The CJ mono won't be worth much if anything over a twin 67 on an N/A car, but it's worth quite a bit for any TVS combo.

Had a CJ mono and Cobra jet intake setup on my 2012 5.0 about 4 years ago. AED tuned it and it ran great. no idle issues and pulled to 8000 easily.

VMP67 vs KB160 Mono Blade TB +34rwhp:
Attached 2 dyno sheets. The only mod being swap of VMP67 w/BPS O-Sized Plenum to the PBH Package KB Mono Blade + XBA (bolt match) O-Sized Plenum+JLT 148CAI.
Both plenums are made by BPS so that's a wash. JLT148 replaced JLT127.
HP increased 34RW. BIG diff was Torque #'s stayed very much the same (679 vs 680).. BUT....the power curve came in harder, stayed flat longer. And...Oh Boy do I feel it everywhere from 2800-redline.
Despite the KB Mono upgrade boost remained mostly same 16.3 vs.16.5psi.
Both dynos were done at same shop, similar temps, 3yrs apart thru 410's.
My car is Lund Race Tuned. Swap to KB Mono was also Lund advised after 2 failed SCJ tuning experiments...which DID show 17rw gain on 1st pull but could not be driven. I do follow Lund's advice adding 1/2 bottle VP Octanium per tank simply because our 93 octane area fuel seemed not to be consistent on Data Logs.
Driveability is like stock. Idle is steady at 850rpm. Off idle around town smooth & stable. No "tip-in" stumble/wrench light issues as with my 2 SCJ's. Anywhere as low as 2200rpm on stab is linear to redline...no surge

I keep thinking I'm near the max of my stock motor. But ..after reading some of the comments here I may consider a lower 10% to bump up boost from 16.5 to approx 18.5psi....OR...as I also plan to upgrade OPG I might just have the Stock Trinity ported porting instead of the lower 10%.

Awesome power, it blows my mind how the KB168 seems to have better driveability than SCJ mono blade. I just had my SCJ rebuilt by accufabracing so hopefully I will have better luck.

I've had bad luck with both. Maintenance and tune up is key
On 2013 I had the SCJ mono blade with no issues at all and with my KB 168 no issues at all. With my 2014 I'm still have issues, but hopefully with the accufab rebuild it will be better.
