Well Some Good Side By Side Numbers For The GT500 vs ZO6 With ZO7 Package
ZO6 With ZO7 Stage 3 Aero Package And 8-Speed Trans Is The Highest Spec

ZO6 With 7-Speed Tested 0-60 In 3.4 sec 1/4 Mile 11.5 @ 126 MPH 3559 Pounds
That Would Be A Closer Match For Our 2013 / 2014 GT500's 6-Speed vs 7-Speed

But Once Past 150MPH The GT500 Will Pull Away On Top End 202MPH vs 185 MPH
The GT500 Is Down Over A Second To 100MPH But By 160MPH The GT500 Is Up BY A Full 2 Seconds!!!

How well will it respond to basic mods like pulley and tune will tell us more. Plus 8 speed auto vs 6 speed on the street. it's no comparison unless ideal conditions exist.

it's going to be a tough car to beat for a stock or lightly modded gt 500 as most jaunts only go to 130 mph range.

I doubt I'll see any in my area to compare.

Doesn't make much sense that a lighter, more slippery vehicle with basically the same HP gets to 160mph 2 sec slower. That just seems weird to me.

The 13/14 GT500s will always be hard car to beat in a straight line. Cool seeing how they stack up against each other, I wonder if we will ever see a 14 GT500 vs a C7Z and a hellcat.

That aero package on the new Z creates a ton of downforce and drag at very high speeds.

I have a hard time believing those numbers. At the 1/2 mile roll races...I was posting the same times with my 690rwhp 2013 GT500 as I did a year earlier with my 550rwhp C6Z06. You can't beat the Aero and weight of the Z06.

My buddy went 10.78 just on a drag radial with everything else stock in a 08 z. I figure with a tire the new one will go mid 10s with a good driver.

I dont think a lot of you guys are understanding that the c7 z06s top speed is affected by all the downforce its body panels are producing. Even the c6z has a higher top speed then a c7z.

Actually the aero on the Z07 optioned Z is what gets it beat at high speeds. C6Z's have no where near the aero that this car has.

As others have said, downforce is what slows the new Z down once past 150mph. The car is about handling, not sprinting up to 200mph, which no one has room to reach anyway. GM engineers have repeatedly stated that the new Z06 with Z07 package creates more downforce than any other car they tested EVER. And they reportedly test many exotics and cars it would be benchmarked against. There is no comparison between this car and the GT500 in my opinion. Don't even try it bruh.

Line Them Up

In 1987 The Buick GN / GNX Were Top Dogs, King Of The Hill :-D
But That Did Not Stop People From Saying The Vette Was Second Place :coolman:

They Will Be Matched Up On The Steet From A Roll And I Think Runs Over 150MPH Will Happen ;-)

The new Z06 isn't really in the same category as the '13-14 GT500. Sure it costs significantly more, but there really is no comparison between the two cars other than straight line acceleration, to which the '15 Z still takes the prize. Handling, braking, straight line, weight advantage, the Z has them all.

Some of the guys in this section live their life 200 mph at a time I guess. You are right, apples to oranges with these 2 cars. Both are badass.

You can't compare the '15 Z to the GT 500. GT 500 is a great car, it looks cool and is fun for 1/4 mile's for a really decent price. The '15 Z's playing field is $250k-$1 million supercars. It was designed to handle, not hit 200 mph and regardless still beats the GT500 in every meaningful acceleration test. You look at the braking, acceleration, G's, and overall technology and engineering in the Z and the gaps between that and the GT500 are substantial. Actually, if these cars were meant to compete (and they weren't) this comparison would be embarrassing for the GT500.

Real World

The 2015 Z06 Is Not Much Faster In A Strait Line Then A 2013/2014 GT500

In The Turns Or Stopping The Vette Will Kill It But It's Not So Light At 3559LBS

The Trap Speeds Are Close So I Think From A Roll It Would Be A Drivers Race

In The Real World On The Street Most Races Are From A Highway Roll 60MPH

And For The 35K We Save On The GT500 It Still Will Be The Most Car For The Money

I Don't Go To The Track Or Pull 1.19g's On The Street. The Mustange Is A Better Car For Me

But The ZO6 Is Awsome And I Will Be Happy To See One When They Are Out On The Streets
