I got the 2.8, but may eventually go to a 3.0 since we only have 91 octane in the Phoenix area.. I actually just got it today (the pulley)
What intake are you running? I have 123 now, wondering if I should go bigger?

Simple I want over 1000rwhp without leaning on it. The TVS2650 is a bad unit and will easily support 1000rwhp on a built GT500.Not trying to hijack but what is your thinking involving the pick of 4.0 Whipple as opposed to the TVS2650? I will be purchasing a new blower soon and I am trying to make the right choice? Thanks
I think Gen 3 3.4 is better choice for your combo if 1100 is the goal. Just my .02.Simple I want over 1000rwhp without leaning on it. The TVS2650 is a bad unit and will easily support 1000rwhp on a built GT500.
It’s more than enough for 99% of Shelby owners. I’m confident my combo will make close to 1100rwhp with the 2650 but I know I’ll have to lean on it hard vs the bigger blower making it with less stress.
Hopefully I’m making the right call.

That is the same logic I got from talking to the tech. at Whipple. I am just not sure as it is a street car first. 2650 or Whipple 4.0. I know the 4.0 will exceed 1000rwhp easier but I like the instant torque, reliability and hood clearance with the 2650. Life is full of hard choices!3.4/4.0 same height and case just slightly longer.
Both get Gen 3 rotors, so $500 no brainer to me to go 4.0 if same fitment.
Please let me know if I'm missing something there.

Yea and when I talked to KB they said the same thing go 3.6 for your power/et goals. Bigger is not always better though. Anyways what pulley combo will you be running on the 4.0? Curious to see how it does as you made solid power with the 2.3.Thanks man.
I talked to Whipple as did my tuner whose been a Whipple dealer for years and they recommended the 4.0L
I believe some of the Super Snakes had the 4.0 and in the future I may build the spare block/heads for more or just reliability.
For now I'll cross my fingers with the dual keyed JDM prepped CJ crank.
It's hard to spend the cash and not go $500 more for a 4.0 that fits the same physical space.
So, has anyone seen any first hand knowledge of the VMP 173 TBs?

Yes that would be great! very interested to see how the 173 performs.Got a Gen 3 / 173mm TB / big JLT car we’re finishing up now at the shop. Will post details / pics when finished
