The smoke trails?

yes thats what they look like but its strange how they bounce back after the shockwave, I guess I would imagine them to dissipate fast after something like that if it was just smoke, I was just curious if that was somehow related to the blast?

yes, i noticed that in two or three separate instances. Look like the after effects of a lightning strike as if energy was jumping from the sky to the ground or vice versa

where's that Snover dude when you need him!!

The smoke trails were used to measure the shockwave. Basically fireworks

What I found interesting about that one was how many tests there were conducted by UK on American soil.

France had quite a few in Africa too,I had to buy the DVD of this,on disco two there are un cut test footage, bomb goes off, anywhere from 5-10 secs go by and the cameras and audio go crazy.

They were actually used to gauge wind direction to predict where the fallout would be. If the trails were blowing in unfavorable direction then the launch was postponed.
