My (our) generation has never had the opportunity to be part of a HUGE magnitude event or decision that effects the entire country. So many people saw their chance to make history by helping to elect the first "African-American" to office of the president. This was such a huge ordeal a lot of people just completely ignored his political agenda, as McCain's was no where near better, and elected him strictly out of the emotion of being able to pride themselves in saying "I helped to elect the first "black" President."
