Hey all, I have a stock motor/transmission cobra with a KB 2.8 making 700 and was looking to build it to 1000rwhp+. How much am I looking to spend for my cobra to safely run 1000rwhp+? Thanks
Yup minimum , transmission needs upgrades, suspension needs upgrades. Chassis needs upgrades, and then ofcourse the motor. New rods and pistons, depending on miles maybe need head work.20k.
both, actually. When you say safely are you just referring to the engine or the entire car?

Listen to this guy ^^^^I would keep running what you have and build a new engine on the side. Why take it all apart if the car is running? You're going to want to use a teksid or nemak block as a starting point, not an iron block. Find a Cobra crank, Molnar power adder rods and your choice of pistons.

You would have to start a spreadsheet and add up the costs. However, once you have the new engine built, you can sell your old shortblock and recoup costs. Me personally, I would never take apart a perfectly running car to build a new engine for it when the current engine runs fine. Build the new engine on the side and sell the old one when the time comes.Curious, would that route be more expensive? I would have a shop do it.
