I really enjoy looking at these speed and agility contests.

But I could never do this myself. It's not the money lost after a crash (and even in the best of time I would crash, a lot!)

But my ability to transfer visual input from a FatShark goggle to my thumbs on the transmitter was seriously degraded after my stroke.

The only thing I am up to speed on these days is flying around and trying to avoid trees and power lines.

That does look like a lot of fun, but crashing one is expensive. Imagine a dozen drones racing at that park. Would you have to limit the number of drones in a race to help avoid crashes into other drones? I would think so. Looks like fun, though.

Rules are still being formed but it seem like flying will still be legal under 400ft and not over people. And at least (I think) three miles from an airport.
Right now there are no rules governing drones besides the limitations of flying around airports.

The 400ft ceiling is just a suggestion from the AMA as well as not flying over people.

DJI has actively been updating the firmware in their drones to prevent them from even taking off if they are within 5 miles of an airport, or within city limits. They have also limited the height at which you can fly. However if you have an older drone, or know how to flash the firmware with an older one you can circumvent many of these restrictions.
