Still for sale - 2003 Cobra Coupe - 92,000 miles
2003 Silver Satin Cobra Coupe:
I apologize in advance for the very long post.
I have used this car as a company vehicle since new. It now has a little less than 92,000 miles on it. My company now says no more personal vehicles and has blessed me with a Chevrolet HHR to drive. (Insert profanity here). The Cobra will end up sitting and that is not cool so it is time for it to find a better home.
I computerize new car dealerships so I am always at a dealer. Every service has been performed on time by a Ford or SVT dealership. Every TSB has been performed (sometimes more than once until it was right). This car has had every known Cobra complaint addressed and completely resolved.
Here is the VIN so you can run an Oasis and a car fax. 1FAFP48Y53F300602
When the heads were replaced I was allowed to take the new ones and have them looked at by Don Steigemeier. We chamfered all of the sharp edges, gasket matched the intake and exhaust runners, and cleaned up the intake and exhaust areas/pockets. They were deemed to be good quality and correctly built. They are the CAB and BAB updated heads.
While the engine was out and apart we inspected EVERYTHING. We pulled pistons, checked rod and main bearings, end play, ECT…. We installed the cooling mod at this time and replaced the clutch, pressure plate, and throw out bearing as well. This is the smoothest running and the quietest 4.6 I or the SVT techs that work on it have ever heard.
While it was apart the blower was taken to Stiegemeier's and he performed a stage III port and installed a 2.93 pulley. He also provided the SCT Xcal II tuner and custom tunes. We later fine tuned it on his dyno to a conservative but fun 479 HP.
The car got a new – not rebuilt - transmission at around 32,000 and the updated throw out bearing tube more recently. We put in another new Motorsoprt clutch and pressure plate at this time just because it was already apart. (See the Oasis Report for exact mileages and dates of repairs).
It has 4.10 Motorsport gears, Ford FR500 exhaust package, K&N Filter, and new ZR rated tires.
This car has extensive highway miles as reflected by the fact that it still has the original brake pads with a little less that half of the pads still left.
It has the remainder of a 100,000 mile extended service plan left on it.
I HAVE NOT BABIED THIS CAR – but I have not beat it down either. It had a 75 hp nitrous/propane system on it for a few weeks at around 26,000 miles that I was experimenting with for another Cobra owner. – 5 short hits at a full rich 9 to 1 AF mixture. It also had a peltier driven electronic supercharger cooler that Bob and I were playing with. (It didn’t work very well but it was a fun project). It has been at the track 2 times – Once with the temp tags on coming home from the dealer it ran high 12’s and once after we tuned it when it ran low 12’s.
This car is as perfect as one could hope to find. It is clean both inside and out, it has no vibe, no clunk front or rear, no engine tick, no leaks, no pulling, no issues what so ever. It has never run stronger or better than it does today.
It has a snake emblem and an egg crate grill insert. It also has custom painted Mystic racing stripes on the hood, trunk deck and rear bumper. We spent considerable time making the color shift compliment the silver car color while not being over powering. I get lots of comments and compliments on it. It flops from a dark green to a deep rose color. The front bumper has not been drilled for a license plate holder.
It comes with the SCT tuner and AUTOTAP data logging software.
I also have the SVT Certificate and New SVT Owners Package items.
I have no idea what to ask so I am accepting offers. I will gladly post what it sells for if the purchaser says it is OK. Sorry no trades. I am going to use the money to build a nice detached garage and workshop for my other toys.
I live west of St. Louis Missouri.
The HHR will sit outside.
Thanks for your consideration and have a great day!
- Paul
