Win on Sunday, Sell on Monday

Even if the FiST and FoST and Mustang were lame ducks in terms of sales, as long as they broke even or made a little money, it helped drive the lay customers back to them. If a guy graduates from college and his parents buy him a car, he wants sporty. So lets say a FoST. While at the dealership, dad sees an F150 he likes. Then mom sees an explorer.. and tada. 1 car sale turns into 3.

Now they have absolutely nothing not mustang or F150 or CUV to drive people to the lots. If you don't want a full sized or a cross over or a mustang, you're SOL on a Ford lot. Which is ridiculous really.

Not to mention how they absolutely ruined a good thing with the Gen 3 coyote turning out to be a turd to the point they are killing it off.

Pretty soon they will be a carless, v8-less, CUV manufacturer with no redeeming qualities. I love my F150 but next time we are going Hyundai, Honda, BMW, or Toyota. Ford's a joke.

    Negative on all three.

If I had a dollar for every time that's happened in the last 10 years, I might be able to afford to buy you lunch.

Ford is sitting on 22 Billion in cash, hate to see them do a buy back. I had read they would use reserves to defend dividend in a slow down.

Huge cash reserves mean shit when you're company isnt selling anything exciting. When F-Series is keeping your company afloat, theres a problem.

CEO's under pressure if that's what they're considering. Short sighted way to artificially inflate your stock price. Doesn't address the fundamental issue of having a viable growth plan for the company. Investors don't really care that they sell boat loads of F series anymore. That's a base expectation now. What's their plan for growing their business? Leadership has done a pretty poor job articulating their strategy, and convincing Wall Street that it will work.

Maybe, just maybe wasting money on renovating old, dilapidated train stations isn't the best use of their resources. Invest more back in to their products? Nope, that makes too much sense.

I think Texas keeps them in business. Everywhere you look is a full size truck and a lot are F150s and big ass SUVs. Fug Ford. Getting a Veloster N when the time comes. I love my FiST for now tho. 20181231_174233-1512x2016.jpg

    Eh?

    They are killing off cars
They will only have the mustang
They will have a full sized line (a successful one I will add)
They will have their CUV line (all 800 versions)
No performance cars to speak of outside of mustangs
They are reducing production on coyote, and noted it's about run it's course

Worked at a dealership for 4-5 years. I saw and had a lot of customers who bought because of other family members. Mustangs, FiST, FoST and SHO included. I'm also in a coastal rich town where people do that kind of thing. Family walks into Yeti just for one cooler, and the whole family walks out after spending 3-4k and has them delivered to their beach house. It happens.

Gen 3 coyote is an oil eating, noisy tapping monster. Mine is getting a motor because of it, and many others have too.

What Coyote needs is a CGI block. Also, cars will likely trickle back into the lineup on new platforms.

I feel like Ford has just lost their way in marketing their vehicles. Cant pinpoint it other than for myself.

Doing away with SVT (Original version that died in 2004) seemed to be the start. I am a lifetime Ford loyalist (since my first car a 1976 F150). Have had a 89 T-Bird SC, 1993 F-150 Lightning, 1990 Mercury Cougar XR-7, 1995 Mustang GT, 1996 Ford Ranger, 1996 Bronco, 2002 Focus Wagon, 2003 Windstar, 2003 Cobra, 2009 Explorer EB, 2016 Explorer Sport).

I really wanted to stay with Ford. Waited with baited breath for the new Bronco..and waited...and waited...and waited....and waited some more. Ended up with a 2020 Jeep Gladiator (which my wife LOVES).
I am then looking to replace my 2003 Cobra. The GT350 comes out, friggin SWEET machine! Start sniffing around them..wait a little, see my first 350R (HOLY SHIT what a car!) seriously start pricing them out and am at $75k+ with ADM's that wont move. That's OK, cause I really like it..then the info on the 2020 GT500 starts leaking...WOW cant believe what I am seeing, best Mustang EVER! ADM's are even more unbelievable..BUT, its a FORD and amazing so I will wait a little.

Then...the C8 is announced, presented, release of specs, for $59,999 and will build many thousand... CRAP!

So this ford guy may end up a Jeep/Chevy guy? How the FCK did that happen!?!?!?

I know, I may be crazy, but at the end of the day these are machines, no matter whose name is on it, I want them to perform in certain ways for certain costs, and FORD just isn't meeting either of those criteria very well.

    IMHO

The MY20 GT500 ADMs aren't anything different than the GT350/R when they originally came out.

That's the difference between making <6,000 of them vs 30,000 a year.

I was surprised to see your FGT not bring the moon at auction. Any particular reason why you think it didn't?

Yeah, just like all the excitement of my 1 of 2003 "10th Anniversary Cobra" has brought. Its still a car, like "6,000 vs 30,000" means anything really. Unless the owner is just very concerned about that or a collector of some sort, it doesn't help with the driving experience. Paying more for exclusivity is just odd in a way. narcissistic maybe? I remember Saleen "Power in the hands of a few", look where that got them. ;)

Long story short, I didn't want it to be a big circus, so I sold it to a guy who said he didn't get an allocation but was going to put it in his collection and drive it blah blah blah. Dude sent it straight to auction. I said hey man what's up with this, if I had wanted the circus of an auction I would have done it myself, which is why I was clear I wanted it sold to an end user. He said he was pissed at Ford for not selling him one so he was going to try and make some money on mine. I offered to pay him go away money to get it back, he declined, and then he had a bad day at an oddly chosen auction. Sucks for him. Regardless, you can't expect massive numbers from "collector" cars that have actual mileage. That car could have sat parked for 10 years and it would still be on the high end of the range.

Entire super/hyper car market is soft and is about to get a bunch softer...

    What's worth more today? A 2003 Terminator or a 2003 Z06? lol

    I agree.

I didn't think you would run it through an auction, so that makes sense.
