I don't necessarily think GM is a giant turd, but it doesn't rest well that 10 years ago they took a huge bailout, now they're cutting workers again. So yes, kinda a big giant turd in some cases.
Did you know that 35% of ALL cars sold are to rental and fleet companies?
.
It's inevitable that they'd do this. They are one of the last bloatware companies in my opinion.
They are overstaffed, extremely inefficient, lack a real brand direction, and aren't forward thinking. Despite the irony of this statement, they could take a lesson from companies like Apple/Toyota/Microsoft/Amazon etc. Apple grew way to fast back in the day, became massively bloated, lost direction, and almost failed. A cleanup, a clear purpose, and a lean efficient operation turned them into what they are. Microsoft is doing the same. Way way way way better product and company to deal with than 10 years ago. Toyota has always had a pretty definitive purpose/organization. Amazon is amazon. They kill it at pretty much whatever they do.
