I have not heard of them making it stateside. Those hornets are no joke!!!
Apis Mellifera have been suffering massively in the US from CCD. I know varroa mites are out of control as well, and we have been constantly struggling with our hives personally on a yearly basis.

Yes! I saw a documentary on these. Apparently they kill people in Okinawa on the regular.

They are state side. They were stowaway in shipping containers. They are in our area. I have personally come in contact with these. They can kill a horse. No amount of over the counter bee killer will kill them either. They have to be exterminated professionally. They can be over 2 inches long. They are unreal looking in person.

I wanna say there is a species of giant hornet that has been here in the states for years...not sure if its Asian or not

Thjose are European Hornets been here since I think the late 1880's when a few hibernating queens hitched a ride on an immigrant steamer ship and so they spread out far and wide at least to the Mississippi river.

These things though come from Japan not mainland Asia or at least they are concentrated in the Japanese home islands. But what is really bad is their venom dissolves FLESH!!!! yes get stung by one of these and kiss about an inch diameter and about 1/8th deep part of your body goodbye.! and the workers also can fling this venom out and not even have to sting you, think spitting cobra!!!!
