It's simply refreshing to hear someone take a stand for people like me: the majority of Americans. The majority that are mostly quiet because we are working our asses off to pay for the programs of the noisy. The ones that are too busy supporting ourselves and families to be concerned with trivial things that offend others. The ones that want to be able to protect ourselves, in the dire times of immediate defense when needed, without relying on others. The ones that just want to be left alone to live our lives peacefully.

I'm a little confused here- I stated that a well-renowned Conservative President was not as pro-2A as everyone makes him out to be. GCA '68 and NFA '86 were some of the most restricting acts, and '86 was Reagan's term. '68 was LBJ, and he was a nasty bastard in general. I said nothing about race.

I know that there are pro-2A democrats and anti-2A conservatives (probably more than they would like to admit so they're not ostracized). I would suggest anyone looks at the background of the main anti-2A players- they'll see an interesting trend beyond political affiliation. Follow the money.

That's what's happening. We're losing our gun rights (and other rights) a little bit at a time. It's so slow, and the changes so small, that the majority aren't overly alarmed, and many assume it won't get worse. Eventually people will stop and say, "what the hell happened". Just like many in Great Britain ask today. And Europe. And (fill in the blank). We are a very unique country. We need to be pro-active in ensuring that we don't lose our uniqueness.

Exactly. Any massive change sparks too much resistance (except in certain backwards deep-blue states where the coastal region wants to give criminals more rights than law-abiding citizens).

(Name some recent policies that Dems have put in place that were specifically meant to be favorable toward African Americans. The catchall "minority programs" don't count. NO, Affirmative Action was not meant for or even targeted specifically to African Americans. Read up on it. You'll be surprised who actually benefits the most from it. (Think welfare programs.) The far right just uses Affirmative Action to push their hate narrative.) Republicans just disregard us wholesale because they don't want to compete for our vote. We basically let Trump win. Not because we wanted his shady ass in office, but because we were sending a message to the Dems that we're not accepting their shit anymore.

They absolutely benefited from it. I was in the employment and staffing business for 25 years and plenty of Fortune 50 companies would tell me they had to have a "diversity applicant" for a certain position, to which I would reply that by law I had to present all qualified applicants for the opening, but we knew in the profession that anyone who was not the specific diversity candidate they were looking for would not get the position.

Some of that heavy emphasis died down after the late 1980's, and 90's, but employers were scared to death of the EEOC, and while they might not have had formal "quotas" for their employment rosters, they had "goals" that they were absolutely bent on achieving.

There was much reverse discrimination going on at the time, because the most qualified applicants didn't always get the job.
