Born and raised Brockton. Living in Naples.
People always ask me at IDPA matches why we are limited to ten rounds, even if plenty of folks are shooting with 17 round mags.

This is why. IDPA tries to keep it consistent from state to state.

I don't know why I thought MA might be the only state with a less than 10 magazine capacity.

Mass is the second worst state to be a lover of firearms the worst being New York.

Come to Virginia. We need help fight off the carpetbaggers!!!
I applied for membership at a private gun club that's been down on the NC coast since 1947. It'll take a couple of years to get in. I know a bunch of the guys and shoot matches with them a couple of times a month. One of the old ones was complaining about their new, more lax admission rules.
He said, "They'll let any damn carpetbagger in her now. *spit*"

I LOLed.

LOL!!! That's awesome!

As a transplant from Rhode Island to Virginia, I have learned to understand and appreciate the difference between a carpetbagger and a "come here". LOL

I'm fond of the expression "Northern by birth; Southern by choice!"

Picked this up today. Dan Wesson Specialist 1911. Feels fantastic. Can't wait to shoot it.

Love me some Dan Wesson. You might think of adding a flat trigger, once I started shooting these I want them on all my 1911s.

Also, you might think of upgrading your mags. WC, Ed Brown, and Cobras are all good choices. The mags that ship with DW are junk.

Thanks for the recommendation! I've used WC mags in the past and liked them a lot.

I had a handful of Wilson mags I was running in a Colt Competition 9mm 1911. Ended up bending the ejector. I guess I slam them in pretty hard when I'm running under the clock. Colt replaced the ejector with a slightly tuned ejector for 38super and solved the problem. Apparently it was a known issue and Colt fixed it gratis, but next time I buy mags from others for my Colt or SA I will check some of the forums.

I think on .45acp 1911's it's probably less of an issue because there are so many that have been made so long, both guns and aftermarket mags, but I got schooled with that 9mm variant.
