Jealous, around here, pack it up, half hour drive, range fees, pretty much 200 yard limit, blah blah. I get why you reload, I'd go broke on ammo if it was that easy.

Been using a Ruger Precision Rimfire lately. After fees and ammo .308 was $150‐200 a go with okay ammo. Plus now having to have ammo shipped to a FFL and pay that fee. Still go at least every other week.

Building a new toy that'll bridge the gap.
That pic above was 300 bucks...thats enough powder to load 100s of rds
It does save me much money...but i can always build what is available at the store
Figure (for 223)
7000grs in a pound...one of my loads is a 55gr ballistic tip and 24.3grs of powder...sooo 1lb goes along way.
Now when loading for my...338lm 98grs, ...lol
I have a good couple grand into reloading equipment and components
But the store can run out all it and im good lol.

Not sure how NY looks at reloading now that you need a check to buy ammo. I'll have to do some reading how I can purchase that legally.

I'm pretty late to the game. Only a year or two in.

Laws have changed a lot since last Sept. Technically can't even run into 7-11 for water with my AR in the truck on the way to range without being in a locked fire resistance case. Without the possible exception of an adult sitting in the vehicle.

Half the law enforcement doesn't even know the what the new laws mean. I just know I don't want to be the test case.

I'm pretty sure you're not allowed to stop anywhere between your house, the range and back regardless if it's locked and another adult is present in vehicle. At least that's how it is in jersey.

Wow NJ is worst

transporting guns in a vehicle?

Effective September 1, 2022, if you leave your gun unattended in a vehicle, it must be unloaded and locked in a fire, impact, and tamper resistant storage depository that is hidden from view. Glove compartments and glove boxes are not appropriate safe storage depositories. A plastic or aluminum, lockable, hard-sided, gun case or safe will suffice for this purpose.

If an adult remains with the vehicle to ensure security, a case or safe is not required. To prevent theft and ensure safety, it is always recommended that firearms be secured during transport. Local rules for traveling with firearms also apply and may be more restrictive. For example, New York City requires that all guns be unloaded, in a case, and out of sight, even when you are with the vehicle (Penal Law § 265.45).

Because you cant steal a Pelican case and get it open.

Apparently what I've been told is wrong or I just really don't trust the website I got this info from

New Jersey Firearm Transport Laws

The primary law governing the transport of firearms in the state is N.J.S.A. 2C:39-6g. The gist of the statute is that, absent a permit to carry, an individual may only transport a firearm under the following circumstances:

  1. By a licensed firearm dealer transporting firearms during the course of their business;
  2. An individual transporting a firearm between their dwelling and business, between their dwellings or between their dwelling or business and a firearm repair shop; or
  3. Transport to or from a shooting range, a hunting site, or a sponsored firearm exhibition.
The firearm must always be properly secured and stowed during transport. This means that the firearm must be “unloaded and contained in a closed and fastened case, gun box, securely tied package, or locked in the trunk of the automobile in which it is being transported”. The firearm must be unloaded and should not be accessible from the passenger compartment.

Deviations In Transport. An individual is permitted to transport a firearm in accordance with (1), (2) and (3), and during the course of deviations reasonably necessary under the circumstances. Transport that goes outside this authorized range renders possession of the firearm unlawful. Examples of stops or detours that are referenced as reasonably necessary include getting gas/fuel, stopping for food or beverages, seeking medical attention, using a restroom/bathroom, or dealing with an emergency situation.

I have steel set at 50, 100, and 150 yards off my back deck. And a private 300 yard range 10 minutes down the road. Makes hanging onto ammo very hard.

Oh and no goofy transport laws lol

Beretta A300 Ultima Patrol. Poor man's 1300? Paid just under a grand, no shipping/tax, and they are sold out just about everywhere. Different gas system, same large controls, generous loading port, can mount same optics, and even more sling mounts, etc. Just released at 2023 Shot Show. Will be interesting to compare to the Mossberg 940 Tactical I picked up not long ago. They have a tiger stripe version that is sexy as **** but pure unobtanium.

A few guns I picked up recently:
