In this instance I would look at it as simple is better. The 6.7 has also been having trouble with its VG turbo. Honestly, for your use I believe a diesel may not be worth it. But if you just want a diesel then you should get what you want.

From what I've read, the turbo problems are stemming from the EGR.

How do we know the 5.9L is better than the 6.7L if the 6.7L hasn't been given a chance to prove itself yet???

there have been dyno tests, tests after the same modifications, tons of different things to compare them, they proved the 5.9 was a better motor.

Since you may know what year did Cummins start using powdered metal rods?

sorry i missed this. trucks with build dates after 01/03 changed rods. basicly the common rail trucks.
